Kenya moving in the wrong direction, latest Ipsos survey reveals

The country is moving in the wrong direction, if the latest Ipsos report is to go by.

According to the nationwide survey conducted between the 4th and 18 of June, 60% of Kenyans are of the opinion that the country is generally moving towards the wrong direction compared to the 26% who think we are on the right track. 11% were of the opinion that we are neither moving towards the right nor wrong direction while 3% were not sure.

Party wise, 82% of the CORD supporters are of the opinion that we are moving towards the wrong direction compared to Jubilee's 43% while 41% of Jubilee supporters we are in the right direction compared to CORD's 9%.

Nyanza region which is a CORD stronghold had the highest number of people who think we are not moving in the right direction at 84% followed by Coast region's 74%,Nairobi, Western, Eastern and North Eastern follow closely with 72%, 68%, 52% and 54% respectively.

In terms of moving towards the right direction, 39% of the people in Central region are of the opinion that we are on the right track followed by Rift Valley's 37%, N.Eastern 31%, Eastern 26% ,Western 20%, Nairobi 17% with Nyanza having the least at only 11%.

27% of those who think we are moving towards the right direction based their opinion on infrastructure, 16% on leadership, 19 % on employment while education and cost of living both had 9%.

Of those who were of the opinion that we are moving in the wrong direction 30% based it on the cost of living, 21% on leadership, 16% on corruption, 12% on employment while 5% based their decision on tribalism and ethnic clashes.
