NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 24 – Police have now officially linked the grenade attack in downtown Nairobi to the Al Shabaab threats issued in the past week.

Nairobi Provincial Police chief Antony Kibuchi told Capital News that they have every reason to link the attack to the threats Al Shabaab insurgents have been issuing.

"There is every reason to believe they are responsible and yes we are linking this attack to the Al Shabaab threats," Kibuchi said while urging city residents to be extra careful.

"I have repeatedly urged city residents to be extra careful and after this attack, I am again appealing to Kenyans to be extra vigilant and cooperate with security agencies," he said after visiting victims of the Grenade attack at the Kenyatta National Hospital where they were admitted.

It is shocking to see the number of people supporting the terrorists on this forum but we are glad that we have friends that see these militants for the extremists that they are. Somalia has for decades been the grave yard of Africa. All along, Kenya has opened up its borders and now we have the largest refugee camp in the world and millions of illegal immigrants from Somalia that have been allowed to make a living within our borders despite their status.

Today we are faced with an enemy that is hell bent on exporting the terror from Somalia and threatens our way of life. We have a duty to defend our country just like any of you would do and the fact of the matter is we do not need to justify our acts to anyone but act in concert with our closest ally in the region in the war against and that is Ethiopia.

We have the capability to bring the enemy to their knees and even as they lob their grenades at innocent civilians in astounding acts of cowardice, we will go after them wherever they run and they will never be able to act as they wish because we are ready to defend our country!

@ami wat a backward way of thinking??if u r tanzanian which i do aggree tell me wen is the last tym your country went to war apart from the overthraw of amin dada with the CUBAN HELP!u knw the alshabab issue is a regional isue and dnt think u guyz are safer.wait first for a repeat of 98 embasy bombing.am perpelexed beyond measure that even wen kenya is terorized u r busy insulting us of our military involment.and mind u those arsenals/armour r nt all there r others waiting for a conventional army trying to joke with us.bydaway to me u r an uninformed short minded guy u doesnt think and harbours such great hatred for kenya and kenyans in general.sorry if u feel offended bt u need to aggre its our common problem

Who do you think they are..?, Some kids playing games and practical jokes..?

You know the problem with these terror groups they operate in cells, they have no one leader and they both work in their belief that they are doing good (for the detriment and distorting other peoples lives) most of them are brain washed., maybe after cutting the root in Somalia and working together to stop this brain washing we can stop growing these people who are fool of hatred.

Somali President opposes Kenya intervention
Criticism comes despite cooperation

Somalia’s president, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, on Monday said he and the people of Somalia were opposed to Kenya’s military operations aimed at eliminating al-Shabaab.

“It is a good thing to destroy these militants ... but we cannot accept military intervention which the Somali government is not aware of,” he said as he toured Daynile, where AU and TFG troops fought fierce battles to remove al-Shabaab from its last Mogadishu stronghold.

“We have requested the Kenya government to assist us in the fighting against the extremists and train the forces of the TFG, so we thank them, but we cannot accept the military intervention in Somalia.”

Only after Kenya sent its forces in to pursue al-Shabaab, which it blames for the recent spate of kidnapping of foreigners, did a delegation go to Mogadishu and secure an agreement with the Somali government to work together.

Kenyan forces, fighting alongside the TFG, have taken the strategic coastal district of Ras Kamboni, and are aiming to take the al-Shabaab strongholds of Afmadow and Kismayo, aiming to choke off the port taxes which help fund the group.

The statement, aside from causing a bit of embarrassment, is unlikely to have any effect on Kenya's plans.

Kenya is sick of decades of instability seeping across its borders, and is keen to create a buffer zone, hence its support for the Azania/Jubaland initiative, which is an attempt to create a semi-autonomous state from Gedo, Middle Juba and Lower Juba.

It is possible that Sheikh Sharif is concerned about these plans, which would essentially see a Kenyan-backed president carve off a large chunk of territory from the TFG, and could cause problems with local militia who feel the system is being imposed upon them from outside.

Somalia's president, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed should understand that without Kenya's, Ethiopia's and to an extent Uganda and Burundi involvement Al shabaab would have run over his shaky government 2 years ago. If his forces are not capable of preventing Somali militants from blowing themselves up in Kenya and Uganda then our government will not sit back and watch as violence from Somalia spreads to our country.

Nairobi Central divisional police chief Eric Mugambi said: “It occurred when a man who posed as a patron knocked the door and when it was opened for him, he just hurled a grenade at the patrons inside and fled.”

You Kenyans !.STOP becoming puppets of the west. How can that be an evidence to link Alshabaab with the attack.

Its a Terrorist Attack "Inciting Terror to people" and no matter who has done it or what has caused it needs to be stopped.., and As I have told you first Al Shabab promised to do such incident, and remember I told you these Terrorists group they work in cells which means they have no one leader its just a group of people brainwashing people and makes them do these shameful acts, even you, you can decide today to start causing havoc in the name of Al Shabab and they would welcome you.., you dont have to meet anyone..

Which means such acts needs to be stopped and Al Shabab wiped out before the face of earth before they continue spreading this poison

This Kibaki of yours did not win the election. He was forced to the throne envisaged to do this job of fighting muslims in Somalia which he is now implementing. In case he was a true president of Kenya I would advise him to close American embassy with immediate effect and before it can bring the havoc which you fears.

Kila sehemu inayoibuka vita ina mkono wa US.
Hili la recolonization of Africa naamini hakuna anayelipinga tena.

Ni wazi umoja wa Afrika umeshahasiwa tayari.

ECOWAS imeshahasiwa tayari.

Nigeria kuna kikundi kipi? boko....

Uganda kuna ? Konyi

It is as simple as that. Kesho utasikia US wamejitolea kuweka base EastAfrica kulinda usalama wa nchi marafiki.

US walipiga zile balozi zao ili kuja kuendeleza uharamua huu wa sasa. Tanzania is next.

EAC kuna kikundi gani?

Inaelekea Somalia kimenuka, jamaa wanataka kuhamisha "attention" ya Serikali ya Kenya!

Go Kenya go!

Nimepata tetesi kua kuna bomu la pili limetupwa ndani ya Supermarket flani hapo Nairobi.
