Edward Ngoyai Lowasa

Mr Lowassa born on 26th August, 1953 is a former Prime Minister of Tanzania. He took office on 30th December, 2005 and resigned on 7th February, 2008.
Lowassa received his BA (Ed.) degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Masters Degree in Development Studies from The University of Bath, in the United Kingdom.

Frederick Tluway Sumaye
27th November 1995 - 2005Mr. Sumaye was born on 29th May, 1950 at Hanang District in Arusha region. He was the 9th Prime Minister of Tanzania. He was Prime Minister since the first multi-party elections on 1995 to 2005. After leaving office, in 2006 he enrolled for a year as a mid-career student in the Edward S. Mason Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Mr. Msuya was born on 4th November, 1931 in Kilimanjaro region. He was the 3rd Prime Minister of Tanzania for two terms. He was preceded and succeded by Mr. Sokoine (1980-1983) the 1st term and 2nd term was preceded by Mr. Malecela and succeded by Mr. Sumaye. Mr. Msuya received his BA (London) in 1955.

Mr. Malecela was born on 1934 in Bugiri Dodoma. He was the 7th Prime Minister of Tanzania. He was preceded by Mr. Warioba and succeded by Mr. Msuya. Malecela is one of the most experienced Tanzanian politicians. He holds PhD. Honoris Causa (Humanities) from University of Texas 1977.

5th November 1985 - 9th November 1990Mr. Warioba was born on September 3rd, 1940 in Bunda, Tanzania. He was the 6th Prime Minister of Tanzania. He was preceded by Mr. Salim and succeded by Mr. Malecela. He graduated from the University of East Africa in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 1966.

Salim Ahmed Salim

Dr. Salim was born on 23rd January, 1942, Zanzibar. He is Tanzanian diplomat who has worked in the international diplomatic arena since the early 1960s. He was the 5th Prime Minister of Tanzania. He holds five Doctorates Honoris Causa including: PhD (Laws) - University of Philippines (1980), PhD (Humanities)- University of Maiduguri, Nigeria (1983), PhD (Civil Law)-University of Mauritius (1991), PhD(Arts in International Affairs)-University of Khartoum (1995) & PhD (Philosophy in International Relations)- University of Bologna, Italy (1996).

The Late Edward Moringe Sokoine
13th February 1977 - 7th November 1980
23rd February 1983 - 12th April 1984Mr. Sokoine was born on 1938 in Monduli, Arusha region. He was the 2nd Prime Minister of Tanzania. He was preceded by Mr. Kawawa and succeded by Mr. Msuya. He took studies in Administration, Federal Republic of Germany (1962-1963 ). He Passed away on April 1984 in a tragic car accident.

Rashidi Mfaume Kawawa

2nd March 1972 - 13th February 1977
Mr. Kawawa was born on 27th May, 1926 in Matepwende, Songea Ruvuma Region. He was the 2nd Prime Minister of Tanganyika (1962) and the 1st Prime Minister of Tanzania (1972-77). He was preceded by Mwl. Nyerere and succeded by Mr. Sokoine. Kawawa was the effective ruler of the country from January to December 1972 while Julius Nyerere toured the countryside. Kawawa was a strong advocate of economic statism. Kawawa remains a behind-the-scenes influence on the Tanzanian political process.

The Late Mwl. Julius Kambarage Nyerere
9th December 1961 - 22nd January 1962
Mwl. Nyerere was born on 13th April, 1922 in Butiama, Musoma in Mara region. He was the 1st President of Tanzania previously Tanganyika, from the country's founding in 1964 until his retirement in 1985. He was the 1st Prime Minister of Tanganyika. He obtained his Masters of Arts Degree on Economics and History in Edinburgh University in 1952. The Late Mwl. Nyerere died in October 14th, 1999 in London, UK.
