The wife of former Minister of Energy and Minerals Nazir Karamagi, appeared yesterday before Kisutu Resident Magistrates Court in Dar es Salaam charged with theft of a mobile phone and gold chain, all valued at 245,000/-, property of one Maselina Rweyemamu.
Nadia Karamagi, a Russian, denied the charge before Resident Magistrate John Msafiri and is out on bail but the accused was ordered to surrender to the court her passport and other travel documents. Each surety was required to sign a bond of 200,000/-.
The case will be mentioned on July 9, because investigations are incomplete. Inspector of Police Nassoro Sisiwaya told the court that Karamagi, who is a manager of Colossian Restaurant, stole the items - a gold chain valued at 90,000/- and a cellular phone valued at 155,000/- on June 17, this year, at around 11.00am at Oysterbay area in Kinondoni District.
