Tanzania: First Mortgage Firm Roll Out in Dar

The first mortgage company in Tanzania has opened its doors to the public.
The Tanzania Mortgage Company Limited (T-Mortgage Limited) would provide Tanzanians with mortgage products and services and would serve the needs of the growing residential property market all aimed at making home buying convenient.
Mr. Charles Inyangete, T-Mortgage's Chief Executive Officer said that home ownership in Tanzanian was underserved with the deficit estimated at two to three million units and was increasing each year.
"We have created this company with a goal of helping Tanzanians easily acquire the home they desire because home ownership in Tanzania is often a difficult and lengthy process, we are changing that model," he said.
T-Mortgage is promoted by Integrated Risk and Investment Services (IRIS),
a Tanzanian based financial services consulting firm, and Pan African Management and Development Company, Inc (Panafra), a US based management and development company.
The company also works directly with residential developers to ensure their customers have the ability to easily get quality properties, allowing them to move in quickly, while paying for the home gradually over a 15 year period.
To further spread out and service Tanzanians in diaspora, T-Mortgage will establish a branch office in Houston and London to serve the US and UK markets respectively.
