Douglas Lake Minerals Board of Directors and Director of Exploration Appointments

VANCOUVER, Aug 04, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Douglas Lake Minerals Inc. (OTC BB: DLKM./ Frankfurt: D6O.F) announced today the appointment of two senior Tanzanian officials to the Board of Directors. Mr. Gus Sangha and Dr. David Groves have stepped down from the Board and the Company thanks them for their valuable assistance during their tenure. Dr. Groves will remain with Douglas Lake as Director of Exploration.
Dr. Medard M.C. Kalemani, LLB, LLM, PhD, Mining Management - Director
Dr. Kalemani is the General Counsel to the Millennium Challenge Account Tanzania, Ministry of Finance, which is an autonomous government entity responsible for managing energy, transportation and water projects in Tanzania. He served as State Attorney of the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals from 1999 to 2007, and from 1997 to 1998, he was a Legal Officer and Manager of the Tanzanian Branch of the International Rescue Committee, UNHCR. He was also legal consultant to UNDP Vienna in Tanzania and an independent consultant on a team that reviewed the Minerals Act of the Republic of South Africa. In 2002, Dr. Kalemani authored a thesis titled "Comparative Study of Mineral Laws" which compared laws between Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
Prof. Abdulkarim Mruma, BSc, MSc, PhD, Geology - Director
Prof. Mruma is the Chief Executive Officer of the Geological Survey of Tanzania, Ministry of Energy and Minerals and since 2004, he is the Vice Chairman of the Association of Geological Survey of Africa. He was the Head of the Department of Geology at the University of Dar es Salaam from 1994 to 2004. Other positions he has held include: National Coordinator, International Geological Correlation Programs; External Examiner, Department of Geology of the University of Nairobi in Kenya and the University of Makerere in Uganda. He also has had extensive involvement as a board and steering committee member of numerous geological and environmental research projects and groups. Prof. Mruma has published over thirty international publications, mainly in the fields of structural geology, precambrian geology, stratigraphy and mineral deposits. He has consulted on and authored more than twenty technical reports in the fields of resource assessments and engineering geology. He is currently a member of the Geological Society of Africa and the Tanzania Geological Society. Prof. Mruma is also a Board Member of Williamson Diamonds Limited, Diamond Mine at Mwadui. The Williamson Diamond Mine is owned by De Beers and the Government of Tanzania.
Dr. David Groves, BSc, PhD, Geology - Director of Exploration
Dr. David Groves, BSc Honours and PhD, started his career working for the Geological Survey of Tasmania. In 1972, he joined the University of Western Australia where he progressed to full Professor by 1987, teaching undergraduate classes in field and structural geology and ore genesis/economic geology. From 1987 to 2005, Dr. Groves was Director of both the Centre for Strategic Mineral Deposits and Centre for Global Metallogeny. During his academic career, he authored and co-authored over 500 papers and is widely published on Archaean evolution, the nature and genesis of komatiite-hosted Ni-Cu and orogenic gold deposits, global metallogeny and conceptual targeting of mineral deposits. He was President of the Geological Society of Australia and the Society of Economic Geologists, and is currently President-Elect of SGA (European Society of Economic Geologists). He has received nine medals for his research, including the Silver Medal of the Society of Economic Geologists and the Geological Association of Canada Medal. Dr. Groves has also been contracted as a consultant to the Geological Survey of Tanzania.
