Mine Controller


Geita Gold Mine, Geita

Position purpose:

To safely maintain and manage fleet/machines movements and status.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
  • Interact on a continuous basis with the maintenance personnel, production supervisors and assist with making good decisions to minimise down times and maximise productivity.
  • Minimize shift delays and normal maintenance delays.
  • Booking correct down time of equipment.
  • Booking correct uptime of equipment.
  • Ensure down reason codes are correct.
  • Ensure down comments are correct at all times.
  • Hourly follow-ups of all down machines and updates production supervisors.
  • Ensure responsible person name are recorded against the down and up times (i.e. reported to and released by)
  • Ensure that all data collected and recorded is accurate and valid.
  • Work closely with the mining Supervisors to ensure service machines are delivered to the workshop and at the correct times.
  • Promptly communicate any equipment maintenance requirements that become evident after reported by Operators.
  • Ensure that all maintenance data is captured accurately throughout a shift and ensure that the data is available in a timely manner for daily KPI reporting.
  • Be proactive in all aspects of operational safety and work as a team member within the mining department.
Essential Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years underground mining operational experience.
  • Must have underground knowledge of haulage and mine layout
  • High level understanding of drilling and blasting techniques.
  • Understanding equipment and human resource capability and mine plans.
  • Understanding mining techniques and ability to optimise mine production.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy is essential.
  • Advanced in English communication and writing skills.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel Software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate using 2-way radio communication devices with underground and workshop supervisors.
  • Record keeping
  • Good team player.
  • First Aid Knowledge.
  • Must have valid Tanzanian Driver’s License
  • Completed secondary school

Operational Excellence Officer

Position purpose:

This role is responsible for site-wide process design, using data and metrics to drive continuous improvement and optimization efforts by reducing waste and inefficiencies, but must coordinate efforts across sites within the business unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
  • Designs and implement changes to processes that improve results and reduce cost and eliminate waste.
  • Coordinates with a variety of business units to develop, test, and refine business processes/practices.
  • Leverages data to drive continuous improvement in areas such as productivity, quality, customer care, and sales.
  • Teaches lessons learned and key findings to departments with recommendations for changes and updates for training.
  • Create a roadmap for tools and technology needed to ensure improvement in processes.
  • Proactively address problem areas and improve efficiencies.
  • Streamlines processed to allow for expansion.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the mining Industry preferred but not required.
  • Skill in business improvement systems like Lean 6, Continuous Improvement, MECE, Value Stream Mapping
  • Must have excellent English skills-both orally and in writing.
  • Experience user of MS Office applications.
  • An engineering or similar focused degree is preferred but credit will be provided for on the job experience.
  • Familiar with the design of SOPs, work instructions, and Job Aides to improve workflow and compliance.
  • Strong quantitative capabilities. Adept at drawing conclusions from a variety of data sources.
  • Need to be able to work across multiple teams and disciplines and be a dedicated team player..
  • Highly goal and result oriented.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Can work independently with a high degree of self- motivation
  • Prioritizes tasks according to business objectives and can pursue several objectives simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage and analyse a situation and develop a professional solution to the organization.
  • First Aid Knowledge.
  • Must have valid Tanzanian Driver’s License

Data Entry Administration Assistant
Geita Gold Mine, Geit

Position purpose:
To assist Maintenance Planners with overall administration of the planning as directed by the Maintenance Foreman.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors by maintaining compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies & procedures.
  • Develop, Implement and maintain a proper filling system for planning records.
  • Print and allocate all planned work orders and work packages for the following week.
  • Collect on daily, all completed work orders and work packages from the respective Senior Supervisors for review by respective Maintenance Planners.
  • Close all signed off work orders in the system on a daily basis.
  • Raise work orders for all defects that have identified through inspections or returned work orders/work packages.
  • File completed work orders and associated work packages for future.

Essential Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • A minimum of 2 years working as a Data Entry Administration Assistant or similar.
  • Previous experience in mining or heavy industry is preferable.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new software packages such as Pronto XI.
  • Advanced skills in written and verbal English
  • Must have valid Tanzanian Driver’s License
