Looks like we are in a losing battle hapa. Huyu Mkewere naamini alifanya kitu kule Bagamoyo..yaani pamoja na kumporomoshea madogo lakini Tazama wazungu wanavyomsifia...Imagine Ikulu wangekuwa na website! this would have a good news clip lakini wapi Salava is more interested na kuwaburuza wenzie

Even though that part of the question was not directed at him, Bush weighed in first with mock exasperation that everyone seemed to be forgetting he was treated like a rock star on the trip. "It seemed like there was a lot of excitement for me, wait a minute," the President said to laughter. "Maybe you missed it."

Then after Bush answered the first part of Loven's question, which was about criticism over the focus on abstinence in his AIDS plan, the President turned to Kikwete and wondered aloud whether he wanted to answer the question about U.S. politics. "See, she didn't ask me it because she knew I wouldn't answer the question," said Bush, who has been trying with mixed success to refrain from opining on the exciting race to succeed him.

But Kikwete ducked any kind of endorsement in the U.S. election, instead heaping some praise on Bush.

"Well, I don't think I can venture into that territory, either," said Kikwete. "Of course, people talk with excitement of Obama — well, our excitement is that President Bush is at the end of his term, and the U.S. is going to get a new President, whoever that one is. For us, the most important thing is, let him be as good [a] friend of Africa as President Bush has been."

Public relations crisis averted. If Kikwete had launched into a speech about the wonders of Obama, U.S. journalists here would have been scurrying to file stories about how the Democratic upstart was trumping Bush's Legacy Tour.

Surely this was just a case of Kikwete being a smart politician who didn't fall into the trap of upstaging his guest. But then again, that $700 million aid check Bush had forked over to Kikwete a few minutes earlier probably fostered a wee bit of goodwill too.

A classic diplospeak diversion, Dim alifanya kazi yake MOFA.

Only one problem, mfumodume runs deep.Is JK counting Clinton out already? or the him/her thing is just too much for him?

Halafu inaonekana kiingereza kinampiga chenga mpaka wanamsaidia hapo chini "as good [a] friend" instead of "as good friend".Did he really butcher it that much?

I don't see what/ where the big deal is with the way he answered it. I would expect the same/ similar public answer from any head of state. I just don't get some people sometimes....

Hongera Mkwere, we know you are trying hard and we can see the results, those who can not, let them be.

So what if Kiingereza kinampiga chenga? It's not his native tongue....geeez!!!! Kiingereza kigumu bana...hata native speakers wenyewe kinawapiga chenga...sembuse Mmatumbi

Pundit,

..nimechanganyikiwa kidogo na hiyo sehemu niliyo-bold. may be i am reading too much? but, why is JK excited that Bush's tenure is winding up?

Nyani Ngabu,

..JK served as a Min' of Foreign Affairs for 10 good years. English, not swahili, is the official language of our government. He should have no excuse for not speaking good english.

The question was centered for Obama. Lets be fair jamani, even though, does it matter really? I think what matters most is: the message was delivered and understood.

Yes, he should!! Do you always speak good (grammatically correct)English? I will give a pass to anyone whom English is their third or fourth language. It's not easy. Not easy at all. I am around native English speakers everyday who don't always speak grammatically correct English...Hata sisi wenyewe hatuzungumzi Kiswahili fasaha kila siku. Msikilize hata Mwanakijiji kwenye matangazo yake. Saa ingine ana-stumble (sijui Kiswahili chake) akitafuta (ma)neno.

Nyani Ngabu ,

Mwenzenu nikiangalia sana mfano wanageria naona wanaongea a language similar to english but they are very confident about it.
Haya wachina, warusi, wajapan je?hapa ulaya waafrika wabongo tunaonekana bora kuliko hao.
They never speak formal english.
Kwa mantiki hiyo kikwete big up,watanzania tujiamini hasa huku ughaibuni, tusijishushe.Ok,wakuu tuendelee na hoja.

Wanaomsifia hawachambui contents, kusema "we are excited that Bush is at the end of his term" ni kama kusema we could not wait for Bush to end his term. This is what the anti-Bush coalition (from the Bill Mahers and the rest of the liberal commentators to some disgruntled Republicans) is saying.Kikwete kaboronga not only lugha bali hata content. Uzuri ni kwamba international press ikishaona mtu anashindwa hata ku form sentences in a grammatical form, wanaweka standards zao chini kidogo na kuangali kwenye the big picture kwamba Kikwete kaingilia kidiplomasia na kafanya uungwana kama mwenyeji kukwepesha swali na kutoa jibu lililo neutral.

Lakini kusema we are excited kwamba Bush anamaliza muda wake, unless unamaanisha unampenda sana Bush na umechoka kuona anavyoshambuliwa (kitu ambacho a friend head of state cannot seriously say, kwa sababu ni afadhali rafiki anayeshambuliwa kuliko adui anayestawi) ni mchemko big time.

Kikwete as always anachemka. There is no way around that unless tunajitegemea kila kitu.

This sort of stuff people get only from some satirrical pieces from The Onion or some jokers like that

Once again,

PUNDIT you are ontop of your game

Rais wa Tanzania anatakiwa atoke among the best of our minds.Mimi nakataa kuwa the best of our minds hawajui hata Kiingereza.

Tatizo this is politics.Competence does not necessarily translate to a guarantee in getting the job.
