au kaa kimya kabisa...Watanzania hawataki kusikia chochote toka kwa fisadi. There are so many allegations against you ...unless you're ready to face Tanzanians and give us your explanation of what took place during your presidency...it is better to keep quiet. Umeshastaafu... we don't like to hear again from you! Mkapa urges religion to control HIV/AIDS DAILY NEWS Reporter Daily News; Thursday,October 25, 2007 @00:04 FORMER President Benjamin Mkapa has underscored the need for religious organisations to play an active role in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the country. Launching a campaign dubbed: Jihad ya Nafsi, Pambana na Ukimwi in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Mr Mkapa warned that unless concerted efforts were made by all parties, the pandemic would seriously affect growth of the national economy. HIV/AIDS presents both physical and spiritual challenges to us and that is why the government and religious bodies must work closely together to try and tame the pandemic, said Mr Mkapa. The campaign is a brainchild of a city based non profit company -- Rahman Social Development Network (RSDN). The nationwide campaign aims to complement government efforts to tame the spread of the disease. Mr Mkapa appealed for public support towards the national HIV/AIDS voluntary testing campaign launched by President Jakaya Kikwete in July this year. We need to join hands to support this campaign as it translates directly to cooperation between the government and other sectors, said the former President. According to available statistics, seven out of every 100 tested people in the country are infected with the disease.
