PRESS RELEASE

10 November 2010
PCCB’S STATEMENT OF 8 NOVEMBER RELATING TO THE BAE/RADAR CASE

The British Government is aware of a statement made by the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) on 8 November 2010. At this stage the case relating to BAe and its dealings in Tanzania is yet to go to court in the UK. It is therefore not possible to draw conclusions either way relating to those who were interviewed in connection with the case.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

On 5 February 2010, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) announced that it had reached a settlement with BAe following an investigation into a defence contract with the Government of Tanzania.

Regarding Tanzania, BAe has admitted that it failed to keep reasonably accurate accounting records in relation to its activities here. BAe has said it will plead guilty to the aforementioned offence, and that it will pay a sum of £30 million by way of a penalty and also for reparation to Tanzania. A hearing in the crown court will determine the amount of the financial order (fine) with the balance to be made available as an ex-gratia payment to the people of Tanzania.

The plea agreement between BAE and the SFO brought to an end all outstanding investigations by the SFO. However, because the plea agreement has not yet been before the crown court in the UK, it is not possible to say at this stage whether the agreement will stand.

A crown court judge will determine whether the plea agreement between the SFO and BAE can be accepted. The hearing will start on 23 November.

Hapo sasa! Yangu macho!

Ngoja Niisome tena! Mhhhhh Ubalozi umeshtuka na umebidi utoe Press Release, very unusual!!!! Yes, but unusual+unusual= NORMAL! PCCB in extremely unusual fashion published a Press Release exonorating Hon Chenje from wrongdoing in the RADAR SAGA, and the British High Commission had to counter this bu an unusual Press Release which now normalizes everything.

Two daunting issues now:

1) Was Hosea trying to lie to the people of Tanznia so that his home-handsome boy gets the Speaker position? If so for what gains? Is PCCB seeking favour from whoever will be the next Speaker of the House? Sounds like it!
2) Is the Govt of Tanzania aware of what is going on at SFO and what it should expect from the BAE/SFO Agreement (ex-gratia payment), if not, who is supposed to know this? If yes, why keep mum to the extent of allowing politicisedPCCB use it to clear Hon Chenge from the scandal?

Shame on Us...............

uwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii WAMEANZA TENAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Email: dgeneral@pccb.go.tz Nukushi (FAX): 255 22 21 50047 :bowl:
