Growing Diesel Fuel Plant

Centre for Jatropha Promotion & Biodiesel (CJP) is the Global authoritative Agency for scientific commercialization of Jatropha fuel crop and designs and implements the growing of Jatropha curcas crops worldwide in a structured Agri-Supply chain, Value additions of Jatropha seeds and research activities thereon & provides support/services from “Soil to Oil” for development and establishment of the non -food Bio-fuel crops.
The CJP has focused on the development of Jatropha curcas and other non-food biodiesel crops. Our primary goal is to discover and develop high-yielding crops that generate the most bio-energy per hectare of land. We have identified and developed new elite varieties of feedstock crops optimized for production under different agro-climatic conditions, economic and social parameters .We would like to introduce you to JATROPHA and our related activities.
We know that energy is a matter of national security as the volatile Middle East affects the world supply with most developing countries struggling with heavy oil import costs. The price of Crude Fossil oil is touching 100 US $ per barrel and expected to touch 150 mark within two years. As such for many countries, the question of trying to achieve greater energy independence one day through the development of biofuels has become one of ‘when’ rather than ‘if,’ and, now on a near daily basis, a biofuels programme is being launched somewhere in the developing world.

Global production of biofuels is growing steadily and will continue to do so. The global biodiesel market is estimated to reach 37 billion gallons by 2016 growing at an average annual rate of 42 percent. The rapid development of the global biodiesel industry has been closely observed by countries interested in stimulating economic growth, improving the environment and reducing dependency on imported oil. Developing Biofuels represents the most immediate and available response to at least five key challenges and opportunities:

Ø Coping with record-high crude-oil prices;

Ø The need for oil-importing countries to reduce their dependence on a limited number of exporting nations by diversifying their energy sources and suppliers;

Ø The chance for emerging economies in tropical regions to supply the global energy market with competitively priced liquid biofuels;

Ø Meeting growing energy demand in developing countries, in particular to support development in rural areas;

Ø And the commitments taken to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions as part of the battle against climate change

Biofuels offers new growth opportunities in many rural areas of developing countries, but it’s important to guarantee the livelihoods and well-being of the most vulnerable. We must ensure that the price of food does not impair the food security of the poor.

Hii ni project kubwa sana na hata hapa Tanzania ipo kwa sasa. Kuna kampuni ya Kijerumani inaitwa Prokon Renewable Energies Ltd ambayo inashughulika na kutoa support kwa wakulima wa Jatropha ili waweze kupata mazao ambayo baadae yatakuwa yakitumika kwa ajili ya kupata mafuta (Biofuel) ili yaweze kutumika katika kuendesha mitambo ya diesel.

Hii project kwa hapa Tanzania iko Mpanda na kwa sasa wanazo 16000acres za mashamba ya jatropha ambayo wanategemea kuanza kuvuna mwaka huu.

Suala ambalo kwa sasa linaleta shaka ni kwamba mapaka sasa hata haya mafuta ya Jatropha bado hayajaweza kufikia ile quality ya diesel and therefore in some cases wanakuwa forced kuchanganya haya mafuta (biodiesel) na Diesel halisi ili kuimprove performance kwenye mitambo. Pia kwa matumizi ktk magari kutahitajika kufanya minor adjustments/modifications ili kuweza kutumia biodiesel.

Hayo yote yanaweza kutatuliwa in future. Naamini kama Tanzania itaweza kufanya hii project ifanikiwe then tutaweza kupunguza gharama za kuagiza mafuta nje kwa kiasi kikubwa na pia tutaweza kuuza pia nje haya mafuta ya Jatropha.

Ahasante sana mwiba nafikiri sasa ni wakati mzuri kwa wananchi kuwekeza katika sekta hii ya energy.

Lakini tusipige ngoma kama kawaida yetu bila kuangalia na kufanya utafiti. Zao hili linatumia mashamba ambayo yanatumika kwa kulima chakula vilevile. Hivyo kuongeza uzalishaji wa zao hili kutumia mashamba yaliopo kutapunguza uzalishaji na kuongeza bei ya chakula. Na kufungua mashamba mapya kutapunguza misitu vilevile na kuongeza uharibifu wa mazingira.

Hivyo ni lazima utafiti wa kina ufanyike.

Lakini tusipige ngoma kama kawaida yetu bila kuangalia na kufanya utafiti. Zao hili linatumia mashamba ambayo yanatumika kwa kulima chakula vilevile. Hivyo kuongeza uzalishaji wa zao hili kutumia mashamba yaliopo kutapunguza uzalishaji na kuongeza bei ya chakula. Na kufungua mashamba mapya kutapunguza misitu vilevile na kuongeza uharibifu wa mazingira.

Hivyo ni lazima utafiti wa kina ufanyike.

Ardhi kuwa kubwa haina maana kuwa ardhi hiyo inafaa kwa kilimo. Na Tanzania haijotoshelezi kwa chakula na mahindi hayapatikani kila kona.
