JamiiYetu: Where we spend our energy productively.

This is a forum for Young Africans to Socialize, Network, Sell, Buy, Learn and Analise issues affecting us. We encourage you to make your contribution and be heard on the forum and beyond as major news outlets in Africa and beyond subscribe to this forum as well.

JamiiYetu is world readable at Jamii Yetu | Google Groups. Articles on this forum are best read on the web at the above address. You can set your preferences so that you do not have to receive e-mail in your mailbox. Visit the above address, sign in and change your preferences accordingly, which can be: mail, no mail, digest or Abridged Email.

We believe in the power of ideas and information sharing. Please feel free to share, as liberally as you can, articles posted on this forum. The range of subjects includes (but not limited to) the following:

1. Government, Politics.
2. Technology – ICT, Medical, transport, industrial, etc.
3. Economics & Social Change.
4. Culture, Social Development & Social Change
5. Education, Health & Agriculture
6. Religion and Its Effects on Society

Here are some guidelines

1. Remember net etiquette and be civil to participants; respect others' wishes to be heard just as you would like to be heard.

2. Before you post or respond to a message, ask yourself whether it is absolutely necessary to post. For example, if someone has made the same point you would like to make, consider whether there is any added value to your contribution. Remember, your audience exceeds 15,0000 busy individuals!

3. Remember, you do not have to respond to every message posted on the list. A good approach is to read a number of messages and respond in one posting. That way, you kill several birds with one stone, i.e. one response to many messages.

4. Include as little text as possible from the message you are responding to; remember that many participants have limited amount of storage for their mailboxes.

5. Articulate an opinion or analysis that enhances the understanding of the subject you are addressing. Ideally, do an essay of between 500 and 1500 words, which we estimate would is sufficient to exhaustively address an issue.

6. If you must post a news piece here, place some context around it. Ensure to offer necessary attribution; where possible include a url (electronic link) to the original source.

Be heard! Reach more news outlets than ever. Submit your opinion expressed in 500-1500 words.

Finally, let's make information sharing interesting and enjoyable, rather than an onerous and unwieldy task.

And Remember: members are solely responsible for the accuracy of the content they post on the list.

Yours truly
