"CRUSADE AFTER INDEPENDENCE It was not until recently when the study of Islam in East Africa has attracted much attention of contemporary scholars. But most of them neglect the Crusades against Islam in East Africa, and Zanzibar in particular. When Tanganyika gained its independence in 1961, Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya, Milton Obote of Uganda and Julius Nyerere of Tanganyika had a Summit Meeting at Nairobi on June 5, 1963. In this conspiracy of the Christian leaders, Zanzibar was neither represented nor mentioned in this Summit. These leaders unanimously pledged their selfish regional Declaration under the spirit of Pan-Africanism:

Let me chip in senti sumuni. There is lots of distortion going on in this debate. The skewed and biased information is attributed by the fact that majority of people don't read enough to find the truth. The misconception that an article by so and so represents the reality misleads contributors big time.
In June 5 1963 as highlighted above, Zanzibar was under Sultan Rule who was strongly opposed by EA leaders for his oppression to Zanzibarian especially non-Arab. I wonder how it could be possible to invite the hater to discuss his own fate.
John Okello was not sent to Zanzibar by Christian! I strongly refute this unfounded allegation. If you read the history of Mr. Okello, you will realize that he started trouble in Uganda then expelled to Kenya. In exile Okello orchestrated some rebellion and expelled to Zanzibar where he joined revolutionaries to topple the Sultan. Okello had trouble with Nyerere and it is believed that, the 1964 Tanganyika revolt, Okello was behind it.
In this context it is unfair to implicate Christian for Okello's rebellion as evidence shows clearly that he was trouble maker even to Christian leaders if you want to put it in that way.

The Zanzibar economy was strong until late 70's when Karafuu lost its glory. Malaysia and other countries with similar climate to Znz revolutionalised the Karafuu agriculture in better and modern way. Zanzibar took for granted that Karafuu will earn her forex without research and development. Nobody now think of karafuu from Zanzibar as there better products in the market.

Whether Znz will thrive out of union is a an open question! However it should be borne into mind that the biggest market for Zanzibar business is mainland. The 40 million market can absolutely determine the trend of Isles business. Recently Znz declared her port as ''free port''. In fact that could not affect Tanganyika iota. The TRA deliberately imposed tax on good from Free port Zanzibar to stop smuggling of goods in Tanganyika under the banner of free port. Businessmen realized that it was expensive to operate via free port than Da re salaam or Mombassa ports. The idea of free port is a myth as of today.

People should remember that the tourism industry in Zanzibar depends to some extent on Tanganyika. Majority of visitors in Znz are the same people who visit Serengeti, mikumi etc. If mainland will develop better attractions to mimic Zanzibar, perhaps no one will be interested with Zanzibar any more. Znz should ask herself, if she is a major tourist’s destination, then why all major airlines are landing in Tanganyika.?

What real embarrass is to note that Zanzibarian do not understand their own position in this debate. If for instance, Okello was sent by the Christian to stop Islam, then why should Znz celebrate Revolution day. Are they supporting Okello's move or deny. Hassan Mwinyi, Abdallah Natepe, Aboud Jumbe are few revolutionaries who are alive. If they collaborated with Okello who is implicated with Christian faith, should we condemn them as traitor?
I wind up by saying, thinking and wishing will not help us expand the spectrum of our knowledge. We need read fox.

Okello had trouble with Nyerere and it is believed that, the 1964 Tanganyika revolt, Okello was behind it.
In this context it is unfair to implicate Christian for Okello's rebellion as evidence shows clearly that he was trouble maker even to Christian leaders if you want to put it in that way.

The Zanzibar economy was strong until late 70's when Karafuu lost its glory. Malaysia and other countries with similar climate to Znz revolutionalised the Karafuu agriculture in better and modern way. Zanzibar took for granted that Karafuu will earn her forex without research and development. Nobody now think of karafuu from Zanzibar as there better products in the market.

Whether Znz will thrive out of union is a an open question! However it should be borne into mind that the biggest market for Zanzibar business is mainland. The 40 million market can absolutely determine the trend of Isles business. Recently Znz declared her port as ''free port''. In fact that could not affect Tanganyika iota. The TRA deliberately imposed tax on good from Free port Zanzibar to stop smuggling of goods in Tanganyika under the banner of free port. Businessmen realized that it was expensive to operate via free port than Da re salaam or Mombassa ports. The idea of free port is a myth as of today.

People should remember that the tourism industry in Zanzibar depends to some extent on Tanganyika. Majority of visitors in Znz are the same people who visit Serengeti, mikumi etc. If mainland will develop better attractions to mimic Zanzibar, perhaps no one will be interested with Zanzibar any more. Znz should ask herself, if she is a major tourist's destination, then why all major airlines are landing in Tanganyika.?

What real embarrass is to note that Zanzibarian do not understand their own position in this debate. The word ''trouble maker'' is used to indicate that he was a person who could cause unwanted situation to whoever is concern. For Zanzibarian he could be a hero but not necessarily to Kenyatta , Nyerere or Idi Amin.

Okello was born in Uganda, then moved to Kenya where he was incarcerated for two years,. The reason is unclear however some literature had it that he started showing signs of revolt before he left Uganda. This is a point I referred to as ''trouble maker''.
He went to Pemba and join ASP, later on being part of revolution. ( Point I refer as ''not sent by Christian as said by one JF member). I went further to say, if Christian sent him then the whole revolution idea is tainted by elements of betrayal since he was embraced by Karume to effect the same. Here I am trying to clear the doubt that Christian sent him for mission.
I said '' It is believed that he was behind 1964 revolts''. This is according to some other literature, but I categorically said '' believed''.
On his return to Uganda he could not have good time with Idd Amin after saying '' This country will have two field marshals''. He pre-empted an attempt by fleeing to Congo. Another point to emphasize the ''trouble making behaviour''

The ryal (Arabic: ريال‎) was the currency of Zanzibar between 1882 and 1908. It was subdivided into 136 pysa and circulated alongside the Indian rupee and Maria Theresa thaler. The ryal was replaced by the rupee at 2⅛ rupees = 1 ryal.

Kuna hii figure hapa nimeiulizia sana BOT inaelekea nyaraka zimefichwa au zimechomwa moto ila hili deni lipo na serikali ya Tanzania ililimaliza hili deni kiubabe:-

Hatimaye walifanikiwa kutekeleza azma yao hiyo na Zanzibar ikawa haina mwakilishi kwenye Bodi ya sarafu. Bahati njema, hesabu na mgao wa faida (dividend) zilibaki kwa jina la Zanzibar na Tanganyika, ingawa ililipwa Serikali ya Muungano wa Tanzania. Haki hiyo ya Zanzibar, ambayo iliwasilishwa kwa Serilkali ya Muungano na kutolipwa Zanzibar, ilifikia zaidi ya (Pauni za Kiingereza) £ 950,000. Pesa nyingi kwa wakati ule. Tanganyika walimega donge nono hilo na kunyamaza kimya huku wakidai mchango wa Zanzibar kwenye shughuli za Muungano.

Je tunaomba waheshimiwa wakanushe hili jambo lipo au halipo? na Tunaomba kujua mchango wa Zanzibar BOT ulikuwa bei gani?
