Is your MP working hard enough?
The Ugandan branch of the Africa Leadership Institute has just launched a new system to hold members of parliament accountable.
The scorecard system monitors MPs based on parliamentary attendance, participation and influence as well as their roles in committees.
This trend began in Kenya in 2006 when Ory Okolloh, a Kenyan graduate from the Harvard School of Law, together with an anomymous blogger known as 'M', set up a blog called 'Mzalendo' to monitor their MPs.
Is your MP working hard enough to deserve his or her salary? Are your expectations of your MP realistic? Would you like to see a similar system to that of Uganda operating in your country? If you are an MP, do you feel people understand the rigours of your job? Send us your views.
