About a year ago President Trump agitated a lot of African leaders when he referred to their nations as shithole countries. Interestingly, nobody bothered to ask President Trump what would qualify a country to be regarded as a shithole. African leaders were just too busy protesting they were not shithole countries - even where Trump could have been right!
For some of us, we assumed Trump's context of a shithole country was on issues of rule of the law, transparency, human rights standards, leadership integrity and of course, genuine fight against corruption. Probably the most significant attributes here are rule of the law and transparency.
Looking at the two most significant attributes that can graduate a country to a "shithole" category, (not even mentioning Trump's unilateral stance on global issues like climate change) I just can't stop wondering whether President Trump and the Republicans are fast tracking USA to becoming the biggest shithole country in the world!
