Two days after Washington announced that it will impose sanctions on 30 foreign companies and individuals linked to Iran’s ballistic missile program, Tehran announced that 15 American companies have been sanctioned due to their relations with Israel and human rights violations. Tehran’s decision is largely symbolic because these companies do not do business with Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced today (Sunday) that 15 American companies have been sanctioned due to their relations with Israel, according to the country’s official state news agency IRNA. The ministry also said that these companies committed human rights violations. According to the statement released by the ministry, the companies support Israel and the “terrorist actions of the country’s government.”
The ministry stated that the companies’ assets in Iran will be seized and Tehran will refuse to approve visa requests for the employees of the companies. Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif named the 15 companies in a statement he released. The companies that will be affected by the sanctions include Raytheon, Daniel Defense, Re/Max and Oshkosh. However, this decision is largely symbolic because these companies do not do business with Iran.
Tehran’s decision to impose sanctions on these American companies comes just two days after Washington announced that it will impose sanctions on 30 foreign individuals and companies linked to Iran’s ballistic missile program.
