Iran imetangaza kuwa jeshi lake "bila kukusudia" liliitungua ndege ya Ukraine, iliyoanguka na kuua watu wote waliokuwemo ndani yake huku wengi wao wakiwa ni raia wa nchini Iran.
Taarifa hiyo mnamo Jumamosi asubuhi inalaumu "kosa la kibinadamu" lililofanyika katika tukio hilo.
Ndege ya Ukraine ilianguka muda mchache tu baada ya kuondoka kutoka katika uwanja wa ndege wa mjini Tehran.
Iran ilikuwa ikipingana vikali kwa siku kadhaa na madai ya kutunguliwa kwa ndege hiyo na moja ya makombora yake ambapo Marekani na Canada kupitia vyanzo vyao vya kijasusi zilidai kuwa wanaamini Iran iliitungua ndege hiyo.

Iran admits it 'unintentionally' shot down Ukrainian plane
Government statement blames 'human error' for the incident that left 176 people killed many of them Iranian citizens.
Iran has announced that its military "unintentionally" shot down a Ukrainian jetliner, killing all 176 on board.
The statement Saturday morning blames "human error" for the incident.
The jetliner, a Boeing 737 operated by Ukrainian International Airlines, went down on the outskirts of Tehran during takeoff just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at US forces.
Iran had denied for several days that a missile downed the aircraft. But then the US and Canada, citing intelligence, said they believe Iran shot down the aircraft.
The plane, en route to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, was carrying 167 passengers and nine crew members from several countries, including 82 Iranians, 57 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, according to officials.

UPDATE: Iran's judiciary has announced the arrests of an unspecified number of suspects in the accidental downing of a commercial passenger jet during a major confrontation with the United States last week.
In comments carried by state media, spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said on Tuesday that "extensive investigations have taken place and some individuals are arrested". He did not offer additional details. [Al Jazeera]
UPDATE: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says Iran's admission Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was shot down by mistake by its own armed forces is an "important first step" and has called for an independent international investigation and the repatriation of those who died. [Sky News]
UPDATE: The President of Ukraine demands that Iran should publicly apologise for downing the Ukrainian aircraft, open an investigation to bring the culprits to justice, return the bodies and pay compensation to families of victims. This is according to the statement from the office of the President of Ukraine.
