The official death toll from renewed violence in Indonesia's rebellious Papua provinces has risen to 27.
At least 23 civilians were killed and scores injured in a riot in the town of Wamena on Monday, provincial military spokesman Eko Daryanto said.
Crowds torched government buildings and shops during the rioting that officials said was sparked by a baseless rumour that a teacher made racist comments to indigenous Papuans.
"The victims died after being trapped in the fires and hit by blunt weapons," Mr Eko said on Tuesday.
In a separate incident, four people, including a soldier, were killed and 10 injured on Monday in clashes between security forces and student protesters in Jayapura, about 250 kilometres from Wamena, the provincial health department said.
Papua is still reeling from two weeks of unrest that took place between late August and early September which left at least five people dead.
It was sparked by perceived heavy-handed and racist treatment of Papuan students by security personnel on Java island.
On Monday, the government imposed internet restrictions on Wamena to curb what it called false information.
Papua, a mainly Melanesian region which makes up the Indonesian part of New Guinea island, has been the scene of low-level separatist insurgency since the 1960s.
