Serikali ya Zanzibar imetenga ekari 80 za ardhi katika kijiji cha Fumba kwa ajili ya msanii maarufu Idris Elba kuanzisha Studio ya Kimataifa ya Filamu.
Hatua hii inalenga kuimarisha hadhi ya Tanzania kama kitovu kinachochipukia cha uzalishaji wa filamu na kubadilishana tamaduni.
Waziri wa Uwekezaji wa Zanzibar, Shariff Ali Shariff, alitoa tangazo hilo wakati wa ufunguzi wa Tamasha la Kimataifa la Filamu la Zanzibar la 27 (ZIFF). Alieleza matumaini yake kuwa studio hiyo mpya itawavutia watengenezaji wa filamu wa kimataifa na kutoa fursa muhimu kwa vipaji vya ndani kujihusisha na tasnia ya filamu ya kimataifa.
This initiative is set to bolster Tanzania's status as a budding hub for film production and cultural exchange.
Zanzibar's Minister of Investment, Shariff Ali Shariff, made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the 27th Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF).
He expressed optimism that the new studio will attract international filmmakers and provide local talent with valuable opportunities to engage in the global film industry.
The project marks a significant investment in Zanzibar's creative sector, promising to bring new jobs, skills training, and international recognition.
