Mkapa to attend burial of Nyerere kin By Beldina Nyakeke, Musoma THE CITIZEN Former President Benjamin Mkapa will today join Chief Burito's family at the burial of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere's younger brother, Kiboko Nyerere, in Butiama Village. Mara Regional Commissioner Issa Machibya told The Citizen that the burial would to take place from 11am, and would also be attended by Mwalimu Nyerere's widow, Mama Maria Nyerere, among others. However, Mr Machibya could not immediately give more details on the event, including who would represent the Government at the event, on the grounds that he was yet to be informed. A son of the late Kiboko, Vicent Nyerere, said his father died last Sunday at Butiama Health Centre, where he was undergoing treatment. He said Kiboko, who was born in 1938, was suffering from complications associated with old age, adding that ill health had dogged his father since 2005. Kiboko was the last born among eight children of Mwalimu Nyerere's mother, the late Christina Mgaya. He leaves behind two widows, 21 children and 16 grandchildren.
