AC Milan boss Marco Giampaolo sent a strong message to his players during Friday’s training session, a report claims.

The Rossoneri begin their 2019-20 campaign on Sunday against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli, and Giampaolo’s squad are undergoing their final preparations before departing.

Clib president Paolo Scaroni, CEO Ivan Gazidis, sporting director Frederic Massara and technical director Paolo Maldini were all present at Milanello on Friday to watch the training session .

As per MilanNews.it , Giampaolo carried out an intense technical-tactical training session in which he paid close attention to possession football.

As can be seen from the video on social media, he barked a specific instruction at his players: “Keep ownership of the ball and don’t give it to them”.

Perhaps a simple command on the face of things but it is one very indicative of the way the former Sampdoria boss wants to play.

Glimpses were seen in preseason of how this Milan team can keep possession well and break through the lines, both with speed and when being more patient, but Sunday provides a whole new environment to test that in.

THE ROSSONERI GET STRAIGHT BACK TO WORK
The players were split between the gym and the training pitch following yesterday's match in Udine

The squad returned to training at Milanello this morning to commence preparations for Saturday’s opening home match against Brescia (31 August, 18:00 CEST at the San Siro).

TRAINING REPORT
The group met at the gym at 10:30 CEST this morning, with the eleven players who started against Udinese yesterday completing a tailored recovery session in the gym. The rest of the squad started with muscle activation exercises before heading out onto the training pitch behind the dressing rooms. The session started with a series of athletic exercises designed to strengthen muscles through the use of rubber bands. Towards the end of the session, the group moved onto the lower pitch for technical exercises. These were based around passing and control, crosses and shots on goal, aswell as a series of conditioned rondo drills. A small match on a reduced pitch completed the day’s work

TUESDAY 27 AUGUST
The schedule for tomorrow, Tuesday 27 August, sees the side train only once in the afternoon (from 17:00 CEST).

Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly informed Milan that he wants to re-join the club.
According to Tuttosport, Milan officials are also not ruling out a late return for Bakayoko, providing Kessie leaves for Monaco this week.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at San Siro, making 42 appearances and becoming a fans’ favourite.

However, the latter part of his spell saw him fall out with Coach Gennaro Gattuso and turn up late for training.
There is also the issue of Gattuso’s successor Marco Giampaolo preferring ball players such as Ismael Bennacer and Lucas Biglia in central midfield.

Nonetheless, the Frenchman could return as a replacement for Kessie, who remains a target for Monaco, despite his demands of over €4m a season.
Bakayoko has since returned to Chelsea but is not in their first-team plans and has so far failed to secure a move away.

André Silva will undergo his medical examinations at SportingCP in the next hours. He has just
arrived in Lisbon. One year loan from Milan

Christian Kouame, former Piatek attacking partner at Genoa, could join him at AC Milan with the Rossoneri in search of alternatives to Corrrea.
MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – Genoa striker Christian Kouame is among the alternatives to Angel Correa reports La Repubblica. Kouame was Krzysztof Piatek’s partner in attack during the Pole’s few months at Genoa.

The signing of Angel Correa has transformed into a race against the clock. Atletico Madrid refuse to lower their asking price forcing Milan to look for other names. However, Kouame is not the only player on Maldini’s list.

The Rossoneri contacted recently contacted Gremio to discuss Leonardo’s old transfer target Everton Soares. The Brazilian winger is on the market for €40 million but four subjects own a part of the player’s card. The remaining four days are not enough for Milan to reach an agreement with all those parties.

Tuttosport reports that AC Milan’s number one target is Memphis Depay. The Dutch international is looking to leave Lyon and the French club are willing to sell him for a fee of €40 million. The two clubs are in negotiations and at moment, the former Manchester United winger, is the most likely name to join AC Milan.

According to La Repubblica, Christian Kouame is the back up option. If Milan fail to sign Depay they will concentrate all their efforts in trying to bring the 21-year-old striker at San Siro.

After completing the signing of Ante Rebic on loan, AC Milan are trying to bring in another striker before the summer transfer window closes.

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – Ante Rebic is the last minute signing of AC Milan. The Croatian striker has already landed in Italy to have his medicals. AC have signed Rebic on a two-year loan with the right to make the move permanent for 25 million plus bonuses. In exchange, Andre Silva has joined Eintracht Frankfurt likewise on loan with the right to sign him for the same figure.

The formula of Rebic’s transfer to San Siro offers Milan the possibility to purchase another player before the summer transfer window is closed tonight at 22:00. According to Sky Sport, the Rossoneri are are indeed pushing for a new arrival.

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Taison is the only name on AC Milan’s orbit for the remaining hours. Taison agent confirmed yesterday that Shakhtar Donetsk had already received an offer: “The offer made by Milan was rejected and we are waiting for a new one”.

Taison has a release clause of €30 million. A high very amount that AC Milan have no plan to match but Sky reports that Shakhtar Donetsk have lowered their asking price to €25 million. Still a considerable figure for a 31-year-old player. Sportitalia reports that Milan have presented Shakhtar a new offer of 20 million. The player is pushing for a transfer to Italy.

Taison joined Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015 for a fee of 15 million. The Brazilian striker that plays mostly as left winger has scored 42 goals in 237 appearances with the Ukrainian club.

After the arrival of Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt, Milan do not want to stop and intends to sign another player.

All the clues lead to Taison, the Brazilian playmaker at Shakhtar Donetsk. A negotiation that, due to timing issues as there are only a few hours until the end of the transfer market, is not at all simple.

But after last night’s contacts Milan are more optimistic, both because the Ukrainian club has lightened its demands by opening for a sale for about €25million (instead of the €30m release clause); and because the player has requested the move.

Taison, at the age of 31, knows that this could be the last chance to be able to play in a top European league and is claiming an agreement on the word he had with his club, namely to free him in front of an offer from a big club.

Milan is trying to set up the transaction on the basis of a loan with redemption obligation under certain conditions, however we have been informed that Shakhtar want an outright sale.

Meanwhile, they have accelerated contacts for Schalke’s Yeven Konoplyanka, a winger that would arrive to replace Taison.

Sources close to the club say that at the moment Milan are not pursuing other players. Negotiations remain difficult, but Milan is seriously trying to give Marco Giampaolo the playmaker who has been in demand for some time.

Milan's possible swap deal involving Andre Silva and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Ante Rebic is facing problems.

Rebic arrived in Milan earlier today of undergoing a medical ahead of the move. He has now completed the medical and is now undergoing some sporting fitness tests.

On the other side of the negotiations, Andre Silva was supposed to join Frankfurt but Sky Italia claim that problems have cropped up in the deal.

They refuse to give away too many details about what exactly this problem is, with many speculating that this could be because of a failed medical. Silva previously failed a medical when he was close to joining Monaco.

They also claim that these problems have brought up about doubts about whether the swap deal can go through or not. As details are yet to emerge about what exactly is happening.

Twelve AC Milan players have been called up by their respective countries for international duty over the next fortnight.

The Rossoneri are on an early season break after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brescia at San Siro, with a round of international fixtures both in Europa and in South America, amongst others.

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli have both been called up by Italy for their 2020 European Championship qualifiers away at Armenia and Finland this Thursday and Sunday respectively.

Matteo Gabbia has received the call from Italy U21s for their EURO 2021 qualifiers, while Rafael Leao has made Portugal’s U21 squad for their games against Gibraltar (home) and Belarus (away).

Hakan Calhanoglu is in the Turkey squad for their qualifiers against Andorra and Moldova at home and away respectively, while Suso is in the Spain squad for their games against Romania (A) and the Faroe Islands (H).

Rade Krunic will feature for Bosnia against Liechtenstein and Armenia (home and away respectively) and Krzysztof Piatek will face Slovenia away and Austria at home with Poland.

Ricardo Rodriguez (Switzerland) will face a trip to the Republic of Ireland before returning home to face Gibraltar.

Ismael Bennacer, fresh off the back of being named African Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament over the summer, will be present for Algeria’s games against Zambia (H) and Botswana (A) as qualification for the next AFCON begins.

Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast) will face Benin at home and Tunisia away, while Lucas Paqueta’s Brazil have two home fixtures coming up – namely against Colombia and Peru.

It’s time for AC Milan coach Marco Giampaolo to give space to new signings and make them essential part of the staring eleven.

MILAN NEWS – AC Milan have delivered a loud and clear message to Marco Giampaolo. From now on, the new AC Milan coach must rely much more on new signings.

The club has already expressed its guideline: the summer purchases are all ready and precisely them should be the backbone of the new Milan that will try to reach fourth place this season reports Tuttosport. Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban, in particular, expect a central role for Theo Hernandez, who is expected to fully recover after the international break, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao.

Three players on which the management counts a lot and to whom the coach must dedicate extra work to make them ready as soon as possible. Giampaolo will have to go a little against what his convictions were until the pre-Brescia press conference, where he said he still needed time to insert new faces in the starting eleven.

In fact, among the players who joined AC Milan this summer, only Bennacer has enjoyed the taste of first minute football last Saturday against Brescia. Leao instead played the last 20 minutes against Udinese, Hernandez is injured, while Duarte and Krunic are not considered as first team material.

Ante Rebic too, the last summer signing of AC Milan, must also be enhanced. The objective is therefore threefold: shifting gears after the first 180 minutes in the league, hitting the target missed last year and enhancing the 83 million investment made for six players, compared to only 24.5 recovered from the sale of Patrick Cutrone and Tiago Djalo.

Ante Rebić will start training with Milan from September 10. It results from the break for national teams.
