Kwa maana habari zote nizisikiazo kuhusu SGR ya Kenya ni kuhusu watu kwenda kutalii Mombasa, lkn sijawahi kusikia Wakenya wa kawaida wakiongelea kupanda SGR kama usasfiri wa kawaida badala ya mabasi, Je niko sawa kwa kufikiri hivyo au ni mimi tu kwamba siyo kweli, SGR inatumiwa na watu wa kawaida kila siku badala au sawa na mabasi?

Mwaka jana kufikia Novemba abiria wa SGR walikua wamefikia milioni mbili, hiyo itakua idadi kubwa sana ya watalii.

Ukisema watu wa Kawaida unamaanisha nini? Manake mimi navyojua watalii wa ndani kwa ndani (yaani wakenya) wamefika 4 million kwa mwaka, sana sana wale walio Nairobi hua ikifika ijumaa wanahama nairobi na kwenda Kujivinjari Machakos, Nakuru na miji miengine, Wanaamkia Jumamosi huko na hangover, wanatafuta BnB wanakodisha na kulala alafu baadae ikifikaa jioni wanaingia ma club, mikahawa na kuanza tena hadi asubuhi ya jumapili ndo warudi Nairobi kupumzika na kujitayarisha kwenda kazini Juma Tatu...
Tangu SGR ianze kufanya kazi, Hawa jamaa walipata mtindo mpya, siku hizi ukijaribu ku book SGR usitubuthu ku book Fri,Sat,Sun manake itakua nafasi zote zishachukuliwa, jamaa hua wanabook kwenda Mombasa ijumaa au juma mosi kujivinjari , hawa ndo tunawaita "watalii" manake hata kule mombasa sikuhizi wanajulikana mpaka hoteli za Mombasa ziko na bei yao spesheli wanabook hotel kwa masaa kadhaa ya kulala, kula na swiming pool.. Pia hua wanakodisha/rent magari ya watu binafsi kwahivyo wale wenye magari na hawayatumii sana hua wanapata biashara...

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala says the growth was supported by a 9.8 percent growth in total international arrivals which jumped to 1.474 million arrivals compared to 1.342 million arrivals in 2016.
The growth of the sector was supported by the domestic tourist segment which grew bed nights to 4 million in 2017 from 3.4 million in 2016, with the ministry attributing the growth to increased promotion of domestic tourism by the government.
Tourism sector grows by 20pc in election year to net Sh120b - Capital Business

Asante kwa maelezo mazuri, kwa maana huwa tu nasikia kila waongeleapo SGR wanahusisha na Utalii, lkn sijawahi kusikia Wajenya wa kawaida ambao kabla ya SGR walisafiri kwa mabasi kwenda Mombasa na miji mingine ambayo SGR inapita kwa shughuli mbali mbali za kila siku kama biashara n.k. , hivyo nilipenda kujua kama SGR pia inatumiwa na watu aina hiyo pia kwa wingi au ni wale wa kula raha tu i.e Watalii, lkn nimepata mwanga kutokana na maelezo yako.

Mleta mada, hata cargo, mizigo pia ambayo ndio ilikuwa lengo kuu la SGR huwa ni ya 'watalii' wa kibiashara. Sijui unamaanishaje ukisema watalii. Utalii sio kwa wageni tu, au wazungu. Jinasue kutoka kwa mtego wa minyororo ya kiakili, ya kikoloni.

Huko una enda mbali mimi nime rekebisha ulipo sema masaa manne tu! huo ni uongo. Minimum time train yenu inaeza tumia Msa-Nai ni 4:30 hrs.

Passanger trains make between 1500 and 2500 loss per passager per trip.
The break even charges envisioned were
Economy: 2500
First clasz: 4500
Its a loss and nothing to be proud of.
The accumulated loss is 10bn per year not counting the ticket theft by chinese (1 million per day)

Kile nachojua tu ni kwamba SGR ya Danganyika itakuwa ni snake of the museum,,i wouldn't be surprised to see it carry chicken,charcoal and firewood to and fro dar is a slum

Hivi ukaskia wapi 'Wakenya wakawaida' hawawezi kuwa watalii?
Mombasa is a tourist town. Wengi wa hawa watalii ni Wakenya. (domestic tourists).

Are you saying those 30k cars would not be paying 18 bob per liter of fuel if Thika road was not built and they had to use other roads instead?
