http://tntfactory.com/Chairman of Civic United Front (CUF) Prof Ibrahim Lipumba has said the government has to give citizens power of owning natural resources in order to foster development, because will make leaders more accountable to them.
Speaking in interview with Mlimani TV after participating in meeting which involved different gas and oil stakeholders in Dar es Salaam, Prof Lipumba said if the government wants to improve citizens' living conditions it should give them chance of owning national resources.
"We can discuss many things but if really we want to help citizens the government should give them ability of owning natural resources and have access to them. This will make even leaders know that they work for citizens and not for themselves."
He said the gas and oil exploration projects going on in different part of the country should have positive results to Tanzanians' lives.
He insisted for a long time citizens have been faced by many problems such as water scarcity, poor health services while only few Tanzanians get electricity.
"The government should know this and use the oil and gases found in Mtwara, Lindi and other Regions to improve the living standard.
