The Minister of Finance, Zakia Meghji, has appointed an eleven-member board of directors for the Bank of Tanzania (BoT).
In her appointment made in November, last year, Meghji has brought in two new faces, re-appointed at least six members from the previous board and dropped at least four.
According to a press statement issued and signed by the BoT Governor, Benno Ndulu yesterday in Dar es Salaam, new faces constituted in the board are Prof Haidary Amani and Ali Mfuruki.
The old guards, according to the BoT website, include the governor himself, Prof Ndulu, the board chairman, and his three deputies?Enos Bukuku (Economic and Financial Policies), Juma Reli (Administration and Internal Controls) and Lila Mkila (Financial Stability and Deepening), who become deputy chairs and executive directors.
Others are N. Mwamba, the Treasury Permanent Secretary, Gray Mgonja and Bosco Kimela.
Those who served in the previous board whose term comes to an end on January 19, this year, but have been dropped are Leticia Rutashobya, Joseph Semboja and M. Shirima and B. Ndunguru.
According to the BoT statement, the new board will be inaugurated by the Minister of Finance on January 21, this year.
``After the inauguration, the Chairman of the new Board, Prof B. Ndulu will convene a special Board meeting which will discuss the implementation of the recommendations arising from the Special Audit Report on EPA Account,`` reads the statement in part.
The new board in its entirety is as follows: Prof Benno Ndulu (Chairman and Chief Executive), Dr E. Bukuku (Executive Director and Deputy Chairman), Juma Reli (Executive Director and Deputy Chairman) and Lila Mkila (Executive Director and Deputy Chairman).
Others are, Prof Amani (Appointee of the Minister), A. Mfuruki (Appointee of the Minister), Dr N. Mwamba (Appointee of the Minister), Director from Zanzibar (yet to be appointed?Appointee of the Minister), Permanent Secretary to the Treasury ?ex-official, Principal Secretary to the Treasury (Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar)?ex-official and B. Kimela (Acting Secretary to the Board).
