Security has been heightened along the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kiambu Road headquarters as impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua is expected to appear any time now to record a statement.
This follows a summon by the DCI to the impeached DP after he made utterances over the attempted assassinations he experienced before an impeachment motion was filed against him. He made the allegations on Sunday after being discharged from Karen Hospital after falling ill during his senate impeachment trial.
The heavy security is reported to have been beefed up immediately after the court hearing on Gachagua impeachment case was adjourned following a heated debate and legal exchange between impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's team and the court regarding the composition of the three-judge bench hearing the case.
Earlier in the day, the security around the area was reported to have been substantially the same as always, a situation that abruptly changed after the deputy president left Milimani Law Courts.

In live videos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, three heavy security police trucks, similar to those used to ferry personnel and equipment used to disperse crowds during the protests were observed arriving at the scene.
Reportedly, two of the trucks are carrying water canons used to expel crowds during protests while one was used to ferry additional police officers to the headquarters.
Meanwhile, officers at the scene have also begun engaging with Kenyans in the vicinity and even directing the traffic that had formed as a result of the police convoy arriving at the Kiambu Road offices.
In a summon released last evening, the DCI instructed Gachagua to present himself on October 22, today as some of the allegations made were of national concern.
“On October 20, 2024, during a press conference, you publicly stated that there had been multiple assassination attempts on your life. You were quoted saying, 'On August 30, in Kisumu, undercover security agents entered my room, bugged it, and one of them tried to poison my food. We detected it and were able to escape the scheme. I was supposed to be killed by food poisoning,'" read part of the notice.
“These are serious allegations emanating from a person of your stature and cannot be taken lightly. In light of the seriousness of this matter, we kindly request your presence on October 22 2024 at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters, Mazingira Complex-Kiambu Road."
The summon letter also assured Gachagua that the investigations would be handled with the seriousness and sensitivity they deserve seeing as he was a deputy president during the alleged assassination attempts.
“We understand the sensitivity of the allegations and assure you that this matter will be handled with the seriousness it deserves. Your statement is a crucial component of our investigation. Thank you for your prompt attention and your cooperation,” the summon read.
