Every now and then we see the blatant attempts by mainstream media to hide the reality and peddle false propaganda to deceive the public but sometimes the truth is so vivid that even the worst of its enemies can not hide it. And that is the case with fresh Taliban attacks reported that empahsize the complete failure of US forces to quell the rising Taliban Islamic Movement.

One such reality has been admitted by an Ex-Official of the puppet government of Pakistan, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, who said in an interview that the government’s policies against the growing influence of Taliban have failed badly.

“The police are scared,” Sherpao said. “They don’t want to get involved.” The Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force that could help in tracking down leads on human bombers, was “too stressed, fighting all over,” he said. The Pakistan Army has forces in the tribal areas where the militants have built their sanctuaries but the soldiers have remained in their headquarters. “They are not moving around,” he said. “That’s their strategy.”

One can see the amount of frustration and disappointment in Sherpao’s remarks about the failed Taliban policy of his government. The Taliban, he said, were able to outmaneuver the government because they were well financed, were skilled at propaganda, and were even paying political candidates to oppose them in the tribal areas to keep them from participating in elections.

This grim assessment by Sherpao, who is one of Pakistan’s best-known politicians, comes as senior officials in Washington have said they are increasingly concerned about the growing efforts by the Taliban and Al-Qaeda to destabilize the government.

After all the claims of success by the occupation forces in Afghanistan and propaganda to hide their failures, these assessments and statements by their own best-known analysts and politicians unveil the truth – America’s complete failure in this so called ‘War on Terror’ on all fronts.

Only a few days back coalition forces claimed to kill a dozen Taliban in Kunar province of Afghanistan. While the figure varies throughout mainstream media, the Taliban reported no such incident in their daily press releases to the media.

That is not the case in other instances however. The movement’s official spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid reported the destruction of an American tank in Kunar province on Friday morning, January 25, 2008 at approximately 9 pm local time. The Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate also ambushed two of American Hummers in the Sirkanay district of Kunar province. The Mujahideen also destroyed two American tanks in a firefight that lasted a few hours killing all of the American soldiers on board. The area was then bombed by US aircraft but no damage was reported.

Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf reported a martyrdom attack in Helmand province on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at approximately 3:30 pm local time. The attack targeted the new puppet district chief of Musakall, Abdus Salam, while he was at his office. Eight so-called Afghan police were killed in the operation however Salam was not present at the time of the attack. The martyrdom seeker was Niamat Ullah, a Taliban Mujahid from Helmand province.

In another incident, two supply vehicles belonging to US occupation forces were ambushed by the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Khost province on Thursday morning, January 24, 2008 at approximately 2 pm local time. The American vehicles were carrying food and military equipment to their base near Mando Zayi district headquarters when they were attacked. Puppet police were able to provide security to the convoy as it fled from the scene according to the report from Zahibullah Mujahid.

Another American tank was destroyed in Kunar province on Thursday January 24, 2008 at approximately 1 pm local time. The landmine destroyed the tank and killed and wounded eight of the soldiers inside. The tank when it was on a patrol in the Managi district of Kunar province according to the same report.

A comparison between the dubious claims of occupation forces and the statements released by the Islamic Movement clearly shows what’s happening in Afghanistan.

The Islamic Movement of Taliban has gained control in many areas of various provinces of Afghanistan over the past two years. As they build sanctuaries there, they are gaining influence every day while continuing to strike hard at occupation forces on several fronts. And they promise even more in the future. (JUS)
