The South African major banks have closed the accounts of the former President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma. According to the Sunday World, the former president's children are also in the firing line, including Duduzane Zuma.
Last week the Sunday Times reported that the Zondo commission, which is investigating state capture, requested for the banks to provide financial statements of the former president, his secretive educational trust and also of his family. The Zondo commission believes that there are dodgy financial transactions.
It was also reported by the Sunday Times thay they have seen subpoenas, which relates to 20 accounts that are linked to Zuma's family and also of the company that produces SABC1 telenovela Uzalo. The Zondo Commission have finally made a breakthrough by closing the accounts that are linked to Zuma and his family.
Last week most of the banks reported that they have received a request from the commission to supply Zuma and his family's financial statements.
