[/EYE SPY: Viva Anne Kilango Malecela!
ADAM LUSEKELO
DAR ES SALAAM
I USUALLY don't watch the Bunge performances. I once tried to watch the show. Only to end up waking up with a start. Someone in the House had successfully put me to sleep.
But on Thursday evening I was in my favourite watering hole when I saw Aunt Anne Kilango Malecela performing. She basically said that the Bunge should stop taking crap from the government in the on-going cover-up of the looted EPA funds.
The entire United Republic of Tanzania knows who did the stealing. It is the top dogs in the government who stole the money. They did that with the collusion of top mafia groups in the government and business con-men.
The probe team which was set up to check out the EPA scandal is prevaricating to give us the names of the unarmed robbers. Eti, they don't want to jeopardize the evidence.
They are simply not saying the truth. We all know that the list of names reads like a who-is-who in the government. Aunt Anne Kilango Malecela demanded the names of the thieves.
''If the EPA money will not be returned, it will not be an easy ride in this House. A few of us still love this country and are ready to die for the cause!''She said with great emotion.
I checked out her body language and came to the conclusion that Aunt Anne meant what she said. Body language is a discipline we hack to learn.
Once you get the hang of it is very easy to tell if someone is lying or not.
There are our 'honourables' in Dodoma who simply go there to waste the oxygen in the House. Most go there for money, of course. But if you check their body language you can tell that the guy who is droning on and on simply has nothing to say.
Anyway thank God we are getting there. There is real anger to the government that things cannot continue as they are. Tanzanians cannot forever live with this impunity and piles upon piles of lies!
Aunt Anne also talked about another scandal most of us had forgotten about some 216 billion from the Commodity Import Support (CIS) fund back in the 1992.
So the thieving game did not start yesterday. It has been going on for ages. You sometimes wonder do those aspiring public officers go for it to serve Tanzania or for the money?
By the end of Aunt Anne's show the entire club cheered loudly. I can sense that the Bunge now becoming a House worth listening to. Increasingly there are now MPs appearing who are actually having something to say and not just talking hot air!
