It is high time that section of the media learnt its lessons and returned to professional practice. We think there is nothing particularly wrong in covering presidential aspirants favourably, but the reports must at least be true. And the truth is that Dr. Willibrod Slaa will not be the fifth president of Tanzania.

This Daily News Editorial has me full of rage!
They have stooped so low. And they have the audacity of telling others 'to return to professional practice' while they have proved to be very unprofessional.
It seems that when poll was conducted, the results were apparently not to Daily News' and their masters' liking. They stopped it but the results were out.
And the most dangerous thing they wrote is that 'And the truth is that Dr. Willbrod Slaa will not be the fifth president of Tanzania'.
The big question is that have the Daily News got information of who will be declared the winner of the presidential position regardless of the wish of the people according to the ballot count?
The National Electoral Commission should make a firm stand on this and sanction the Daily News. Strong action should be taken against them.
I call upon lawyers such as Professor Issa Shivji, Mabere Marando, Tundu Lissu as well as human rights advocates to open a court case against the Daily News, its Managing Editor, its publishers and its printers.
Fellow Tanzanians, MAKE SURE YOU VOTE ON 31st OCTOBER!
2010 Watanzania hatudanganyiki!
