Akifungua Kongamano hilo, Mwenyekiti wa CUF, Prof. Ibrahim Lipumba ametoa rai kwa Rais John Magufuli kuheshimu maoni ya wananchi kwa kuwapatia Katiba mpya na Tume Huru.

Vilevile, amesema Rais anatakiwa kuheshimu ukomo wa Uongozi uliopo kwa mujibu wa Katiba na kuepuka majaribio yoyote ya kumuwezesha kukaa madarakani kwa muda mrefu.

Amesema Rais anapaswa kufufua mchakato ya kuandika Katiba mpya kuwapatia Watanzania Tume huru ya Uchaguzi itakayoubganisha Taifa na kufuta machungu yaliyotokana na Uchaguzi Mkuu wa 2020.

Ameongezaa kuwa, rasimu ya Katiba mpya iliyo chini ya Jaji Mstaafu Joseph Warioba imekidhi matakwa ya wananchi walio wengi na jukumu alilobaki nalo Rais ni kuhitimisha mchakato huo.

The conference was organized 53 days after the conclusion of this year’s General Election that saw President John Magufuli re-elected and the ruling CCM increasing domination in the Parliament and local councils.

Opening the conference, the party’s chairman Prof Ibrahim Lipumba asked Dr Magufuli to respect citizen’s opinion by providing them with the new constitution and the independent electoral commission.

“Dr Magufuli should revive the new Katiba writing process now in order to provide citizens with an independent electoral commission in order to unify the country and cure it from wounds resulting from the 2020 General Election,” he said.

The economics professor who turned politician said President Magufuli should also respect the leadership term limit provided by the constitution and ignore any attempts of making him a life president.

He said since the draft constitution from the defunct Constitution Review Commission (CRC) under Judge (rtd) Joseph Warioba has accommodated most citizens’ opinions; the president’s remained with the task to finalize the process.

Former Bukoba Urban MP Wilfred Lwakatare said the two demands should bring together all Tanzanians, political parties, academia, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), clerics etc.

However, the new constitution is not in the ruling party’s manifesto.

Siyo hataki kutoka ila hatoki kwa sababu Katiba ya Chama chake inaruhusu na wanachama wanamtaka aendelee lakini Katiba ya Tanzania, pamoja na ubovu wake, inaruhusu Vipindi viwili tu ikiwa na maana Rais wetu mpendwa ambaye sasa hapendeki kama mwanzo, tayari amefika kipindi cha mwisho. Wasiwasi wa wengi anaweza akabadili Katiba kwa msaada wa Bunge dhaifu linaloongozwa na Spika dhaifu na Wabunge dhaifu wa CCM walioingia kwa Uchafuzi wa mwaka huu.

Binafsi sioni umuhimu wa kudai katiba mpya wakati hata hii iliyopo tumeshindwa kuisimamia ,mfn hii katiba iliyopo inasema mbunge akifukuzwa uwanachama ubunge wake utakoma muda huo huo ,sasa juzi kuna wabunge wamefukuzwa uanachama lakini sipika anasema bado ni wabunge ina maana ameikanyaga katiba wazi wazi.

Katiba inasema mikutano ya vyama vya siasa ni haki ya kila chama na maandamano ya amani ruksa lakini bado kuna mbabe mmoja amesema mikutano na maandamano ni jinai 🤔 ,wazo lao ni zuri lakini wangepambana kwanza kukemea ukiukwaji wa katiba maana hata ikiletwa mpya kama hatujajenga misingi ya kuheshimu katiba tutakwama.

Fahamu kuwa vitendo vya uvunjaji wa katiba ya sasa vinafanywa na wateule wa rais au rais mwenyewe. Hii ni kwasababu katiba ya sasa inamlinda na inampa rais mamlaka yaliyopitiliza kiasi cha kuingilia utendaji wa mihimili mingine ya serikali. Kudai katiba mpya ndo njia pekee ya kukomesha hayo yote.

Magufuli ndio hataki kuona watu wanaikubali cdm. Bila matumizi mabaya ya madaraka hakuna uwezekano wa kuifanya cdm isiwafikie watu wengi sana. Ndio maana Magufuli yuko radhi hata wananchi wote wafe, kuliko kuona wananchi wanaonyesha hisia zao za kuikubali cdm hadharani. Na atatoka madarakani bila kufanikiwa kuua mapenzi ya wananchi kwa cdm.
