All schools in Tanzania have re-opened after COVID-19 halted learning a few months ago.
President John Pombe Magufuli started by re-opening of higher learning institutions and even form six candidates after he noting that COVID-19 cases had reduced.
This Monday, June 29, both primary and secondary schools have resumed learning across the country.
International organizations in Tanzania have since addressed the COVID-19 situation in Tanzania.
Plan International Tanzania, which is part of a global child-centered development organization working in 70 countries throughout the world has confirmed COVID-19 cases have reduced in Tanzania.
Taking to Twitter, the organization has asked parents, guardians, and society at large, to teach children how to protect themselves from COVID-19 virus.
Kutokana na maambukizi ya COVID-19 kupungua,wanafunzi wa shule za awali na msingi wamerejea rasmi mashuleni leo. Hivyo basi ni jukumu letu sote, wazazi,walezi na jamii kwa ujumla kuendelea kulinda afya za watoto, hususani kuwafundisha jinsi ya kujikinga na maambukizi ya COVID-19," said Plan Tanzania in a tweet that was retweeted by Health Minister, Ummy Mwalimu, which loosely translates to:
(With COVID-19 infections declining, elementary and primary school students have officially returned to schools today. It is therefore the responsibility of all of us, parents, caregivers, and the community at large to continue to protect the health of children, especially to teach them how to protect yourself from COVID-19 infections).
UNICEF Tanzania has also taken to the same platform and wished students best of luck as they resume learning, and emphasized on learners paying heed to preventive measures.
"Happy first-day #ForEveryChild returning to school in #Tanzania today and good luck to all Form 6 students with their exams!
"During this time, remember that #handwashing, practicing physical distance & wearing a mask are effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases," UNICEF tweeted.
President Magufuli had earlier alleged that the country was free from COVID-19 disease. He, however, asked Tanzanians to obey all the necessary measures.
Tanzania is currently preparing for its general elections before the year ends.
