MY TAKE: Kwa hali hii, je Kenya inapaswa kuondoa Curfew and partial lockdown?

======

A tour van driver collapsed and died at the Nairobi National Park on Sunday morning, May 31.
“We are saddened to announce that a tour van driver early Sunday Morning collapsed while on the steering wheel, occasioning the van to veer off the road.

“The Nairobi National Park management swiftly acted to secure the safety of the occupants and immediately called for the assistance of a medical doctor," a statement from Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) reads in part.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Head of Corporate Communications at KWS, Paul Jinaro, affirmed, that the tour company the driver worked for, was told of the sad incident so that his next of kin were informed.

“KWS condoled with the bereaved family and wishes them fortitude during this difficult time,” the press release further revealed.

Jinaro went on to reveal that despite the outbreak adversely affecting the tourism industry, KWS was fully operational, adding that the animals needed protection now more than ever.

“You see, at this particular time, it is very easy for poachers and other dishonest characters to try and take advantage of the current pandemic to carry out their sinister plans.

“This is why our officers are still on duty all across our parks to ensure that our animals are safe," he told our newsdesk.
He further expressed optimism over the turn out by Kenyans at the Nairobi National Park over the weekends.

“Surprisingly, we have been registering a slight increase in numbers, especially during this long weekend.

“The queues were extremely long, not as much as before but it was still quite encouraging to see people coming out to the park. With the cessation of movement order, Nairobi National Park is the only place one can get to experience the magic of game drives now,” he stated.

Rangers at parks across the country are under strict instructions to ensure that all Covid-19 preventive measures are taken, with keen attention paid to social distancing rules.

“Entry into any of the national parks and game reserves now involves mandatory temperature scans and sanitization at the point of entry,” Jinaro detailed.

He further stated that the tragic incident involving the tour van driver was reported to the nearby Lang’ata Police Station.
