Colonel Fanette Umuraza, a.k.a. the Number One Queen
Colonel Fanette Umuraza, a.k.a. the Number One Queen. She was second in command of the Congolese Rev. Army and was behind a slew of war crimes including rape, murder, and forced recruitment of children. She committed atrocities with such a lack of empathy she would get manicures and facials while waiting for adults and children to die.
Colonel Fanette Umuraza is pictured at M23 headquarters in northern Kivu. A 32-year-old with a university degree in political science, she vehemently champions the ideology of M23's military chief Sultani Makenga, having worked her way up to serve as his right-hand woman.
