Inadequate and unequally distributed health services are a key impediment to Tanzania's development and have a detrimental influence on the population's health. These shortfalls have the greatest impact on rural areas and impoverished populations. In addition to inadequacies in local infrastructure and equipment, there is a significant scarcity of trained health professionals and experienced employees. All health-care providers have made it a goal to improve patient care in order to achieve a high level of patient satisfaction.

Infrastructure, training, staff competency, and efficiency of operational systems are all important factors in determining the quality of patient care. Maternal mortality, child mortality, HIV/AIDs, pneumonia, and malaria, are major issues that the health system faces, with malaria being the most common.

According to the World Health Organization, a woman should visit her doctor at least eight times during her pregnancy to diagnose and manage any issues and decrease the risk of mother death or infant death. Antenatal care also allows health providers to offer pregnant women a variety of assistance and information, such as on healthy lifestyles, illness prevention, and family planning.

It is critical to have effective supporting supervision of healthcare services in order to improve and sustain the quality of care. How can the health sector be improved?

Collect Data and Analyze Patient Outcomes

The first step in enhancing the quality of care at your organization is to examine the data you already have to see where improvements may be made. To find opportunities for improvement, you should examine both your patient population and your organizational processes.

Improve Access to Care

Having access to care is the single most important factor for improving quality healthcare and patient outcomes. Patients must have access to the right care at the right time in order to get the right results.

Connect and collaborate with other organizations

Healthcare organizations that genuinely want to enhance the quality of care they should conduct frequent study and learn from other organizations, both locally and nationally.

Minimize waiting

Wait times for all services should be kept to a minimum. The enormous demand for services in most emerging nations makes this a major issue.

Providing Information

Patient information and instruction about all procedures, both medical and administrative, should be made very clear. Well trained patient counsellors form an effective link between the patient and the hospital staff and make the patient's experience better and the physicians' task much easier.

Check-in and check-out procedures should be ‘patient friendly’.

Communication

Communicating with the patient and his or her family about potential delays can help to alleviate a lot of stress and worry.

Ancillary Services

Other services such as accommodation, food, etc. should be accessible both to patients and to attending families.

Proper equipment’s

All of the essential equipment’s must be present and in good working order. This is critical to the medical system's effectiveness and contributes considerably to improved outcomes.

Use of Newer Technologies

It is important to continually employ newer technologies that improve the quality of care. This includes latest machineries.

To address the challenges of affordability and availability of high-quality healthcare services while also lowering Tanzania's mortality rate, the government should expand the number of healthcare facilities and equip them with modern equipment and medical personnel available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All services should be provided for free or at a low cost.

Another essential aspect in strengthening the health sector is raising citizen knowledge and providing education about transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment of a certain disease or disorder.
