Brothers accused of killing their brother over land despute in Dodoma

The Dodoma Regional Police Force has arrested four members of the same family who are accused of killing their brother and then cutting off both legs below the knees and covering the body with maize that had been plucked and then burned him.

Dodoma Regional Police Commander, Onesmo Lyanga said yesterday that the suspects are residents of Daki village, Mondo division, Chemba district, Dodoma region.

He identified the victim as Rashid Nduata (40) and that it was discovered he was killed inside his house.

According to Commander Lyanga, Nduata was killed by hanging from the neck, stabbed with a sharp object on the right jaw, struck with a heavy object on the upper and lower jaw and then amputated the legs below the knee. "His body was covered with maize that had been plucked and burned," he said.

He said students in the village were passing by the house and saw smoke coming from inside and then they reported.

Commander Lyanga said the source of the incident was a land dispute between the deceased and his relatives.

"Four people have been arrested for questioning in connection with the incident," he said
