Tafadhali Mheshimiwa Rais: Moses Kuria Eats Humble Pie as he Begs Uhuru to Reopen the Economy
That the three-month-long lockdown has been extremely harsh to the ordinary mwanachi is an understatement. Coronavirus pandemic has caused unprecedented and unimaginable pain to the people since the President announced the dawn to dusk curfew in March with Nairobi Metropolitan and other counties such as Mombasa and Kilifi bearing the brunt of the pandemic.
And as Kenyans eagerly await President Uhuru Kenyatta's address to the nation tomorrow Saturday, June 6, leaders have come out to plead with the President to end the lockdown and allow people fend for themselves.
Moses Kuria took to his Facebook page to voice the concerns of his constituents whom he says have been ravaged by hunger and poverty.
He implored the President to open the economy lest the poverty situation leads to a revolution because they can no longer afford to be deaf and blind on the pain of the common Wanjiru.
"Dear President Uhuru Kenyatta. Open up the country tomorrow. The hunger and poverty ravaging Kenyans is a recipe for a revolution." said Kuria.
He further pledged to work hand in hand with the president in finding a lasting solution that will alleviate the effect of the lockdown, a move that will surprise many since Kuria and the President have not been reading form the same script because of political differences.
"We will work together and support you fully in mitigation measures but we can't afford one more day of this curfew and lockdown. Open the country and the economy now. We can't afford this. Ignore the few elitist advisors and listen to us who interact with Wanjiku on an hourly basis. This hunger and poverty ravaging your people will haunt us forever. Tafadhali Mheshimiwa Rais "wrote Kuria on his Facebook page.
