Dear Valued Customers,

We wish the year 2010 is going very well with all of you.

This is Masao Kuwabara, Managing Director of Autorec Tanzania Ltd.

Here we have some special news to tell you today.

First, we wish to say thank you very much to all our customers and friends in Tanzania.

We have been operating Autorec Tanzania Ltd for 3 years since November 2006 with lots of success. We would like to express our hearty appreciation to all of you, especially for all your help, special care and assistance to us.

Thank you very much indeed to you all !!!

At this starting point of the year 2010, however, we will have to announce about TEMPORARY CLOSURE of business operation of AUTOREC TANZANIA LTD in Dar es salaam. Our operation at Harbour View Tower building will be closed on 12th of February, 2010. After clearing some of the things such as paper works, I'll be going back to Japan and will station at our Head office of AUTOREC ENTERPRISE LTD in Japan, which may be some time in March. Of course, I'll be available at any time and still communicating to you from our Head office in Japan, as a member of Tanzania Marketing Team.

For Autorec Tanzania Ltd, before we came to conclusion, we have had many talks with Head Office in Japan, and in fact, so many people in Tanzania suggested us to stay, rather than leaving Tanzania. Of course, Autorec Enterprise Ltd. Japan also wishes to continue its operation in Tanzania, under consolidation of Autorec Tanzania Ltd.

But what we want you to know is that WE ARE NOT LEAVING TANZANIA FOREVER. As I have mentioned earlier, this is TEMPORARY CLOSURE.

Therefore, we will leave the title of company in Tanzania, and the necessary steps and formalities are being taken care of.

We are actually closing temporarily now to prepare for the SECOND PHASE OF OUR PROJECT IN TANZANIA.

Through this operation of 3 years as the 1st phase, I think we have learned a lot about Tanzania, especially who you are, what you need, how you think, and there are yet many more to learn even now.

We have seen the kind of life in Tanzania. We have met so many people from different areas and different work places. We have seen the traffic situation in Dar es Salaam, understanding how difficult it is to drive in serious traffic jam and to find parking space in town !!

Driving by myself in rainy season, we understood why people prefer SUVs.

On the rough road, we understood why people prefer 4WD vehicles.

Stucked in the serious jam, we understood people like compact cars in urban life.

Paying a lot of money for the fuel, we understood that people prefer to have a vehicle with good fuel consumption.

We also learnt the present situation of spare parts supply, how people do servicing the vehicle, how vehicles are maintained, and all those I have seen were very informative, while there are yet many things to be improved.

Through the communication with so many people, we have learned what kind of services the people in Tanzania are expecting from us; need of good service Garages, Technical assistance, supply source of Spare parts, and many more.

In fact these are the most important things that we always have to consider in our operation for future. We are not coming here only to expand our sales but WE CAME HERE TO LEARN ABOUT TANZANIA AND YOU PEOPLE so that we can provide BETTER SERVICES to match the demands for the people in Tanzania. By supplying High Quality vehicle, durable vehicle, we want to make you happy.

Now, after 3 years of operation in Tanzania, we are on a stage to reconsider what to do next. Based on all these experiences we have had, we should start something that we can do, the things that only AUTOREC CAN DO!!

As Second Phase of our project, we are now seriously thinking of following things such as;-

1) Sales stations / Branch offices in Major cities in Tanzania

2) Service Garage with experienced Japanese technicians / Mechanics

3) Spare Parts Backup / spare parts ordering system

4) Clearing and Forwarding services / Logistic service

5) Upon all these, provide better services so that the customers can enjoy driving our vehicles for long period.

In short, we want to do something to make more people enjoy buying cars and owning them for long time in good condition.

President Mizuno of Autorec Enterprise Ltd always ask his sales staffs.

If you own a good comfortable car, every time you ride on the car and grab the steer, you would be always happy. But what if you got a poor condition car? Imagine how you feel! Every morning you start, how do you wish to feel? When you sell a car to our customers, remember this.

Always consider from the customers' position."

And this is our basic philisophy in business all the time.

Now about the future project, it would not be so easy to start these as everything requires lots of financing. In fact, we had these ideas even before starting our operation in 2006. But we needed to understand the exact situation in Tanzania before we plan all these in action.

Now after 3 years, I think we are ready to discuss about these in realistic view. Or, at least we can introduce our experience in Tanzania to improve the service, and imply to our supply of vehicles.

However, to realise these, we need a lot of time for preparation.

Definitely we shall need to restructure the project as a whole. While I'll be back to operation from the Head office, we'll be discussing more about our plan for the second phase and try to realise the next target in near future. We wish we can get back to Tanzania and start these after 1 year or so.

That's the reason for our temporary closure, and we believe all of you would understand this.

Therefore, WE ARE LEAVING TO COME BACK IN BETTER WAY!!

At the same time, while in temporary closure, we should be providing better services of course.

Back in Japan, the first thing I will do is to share my experience I had in Tanzania with all our staff members in the Head office so that our staffs will understand Tanzania much better than before, and that we can improve our Quality of service to every other markets as well. Having good understanding, our Tanzania Sales team; Yuichi Mizuno, Toru Ogawa, and Junko Goto, will be the real specialized Team for Tanzania, and we would be able to offer better service to you.

We believe that the most impotant thing in the International trade business is mutual understanding and trusting each other. If we don't understand the situation in Tanzania, we shall not be able to achieve Customers' satisfaction. At this point, our 3 years experience in the 1st phase must be very much fruitful and that shall be introduced in our future project.

We shall try our best so that you shall feel as if Autorec is still operating in Tanzania even during the time of temporary closure by supplying friendly services. We will respond to every question and enquiry as soon as possible.

We wish to be the company who will be loved by the customer from Tanzania, and we wish to be the one who will be thought Stress Free from our customers!

So far, we already have established very good relationships with customs clearing people and motor technicians in Tanzania. Therefore, while we operate the business from Japan, we can still take care of many more things in Tanzania by working with them.

And we should be still participating at several business events in Tanzania such as SABA SABA INTERNATIONAL TRADE SHOW.

Lastly but not at least, I have to emphasize that, wihout getting lots of advises and assistance from all of you, we couldn't continue operation for this long time in Tanzania. So let me give my special thanks to all who helped, and to all the valued customers.

Looking back to the days we spent, so many people have educated us a lot. We wish to have these advices from people in Tanzania even after this so that we can continue improving our services.

Thank you very much once again!!!

Yours sincerely,

(Hapo ziningizwa kama used spares, zinaitwa half cuts).

my working experience with japanese people is that they are honest people who prefer to do things by principles.this means working in TANZANIA is a disaster for them.the only reason people kept using their service was the unprecedented higher quality of their vehicles compare to the ones found in dar showrooms.

Sasa hivi soko la magari ya japani (JDM) limevamiwa na wapakistani, wanaijeria, wakenya na matapeli wengine wengi tu!kwa kifupi limekuwa shaghalabagala, wanajisemea wahenga..,with such situations and adding to the act that watanzania huwa tunatafuta lowest threshold price ya kila kitu!they just can't compete.

Kwa nchi, kuwa kilichotokea sio kitu cha kujivunia hata kidogo, kikwete anaenda kufuata FDI wakati kuna nyingine inaondoka!hiyo ni picha simple kwa tatizo kubwa zaidi,Business environment Tanzania is fu&*ed up unless ou know how to give bribe and dine with the blind.something chinese have mastered..,na tutakoma na matakataka yao!

wametuma email hiyo kwa wale waliowahi kuwa wateja wao huko nyuma,so you can take it as a "confirmed news"

in short,POOR BUSINESS conditions zimewashinda!!

Namba mbili nimeiipenda..,maana mafundi wabongo wana-abuse technology.wao kitu kigumu kwao wanaita kibaya, new technology wanaita kimeo!hovyo sana hawa jamaa..,hebu ona walivyocreate a villain out of Direct injection systems,GDi's etc..,mtu akinunua Mitsubishi GDi car akienda garage atakavyopewa vijembe utafikiri kaleta bomu..,huu ni ujinga wao..,sio kosa la mnunua gari.

Hao mafundi wa kijapani naamini wataleta Transfer of Technology..,as well as help these dar fundis to learn.

For i believe watakuja na expert technicians only, the other junior workers they can recruit here..,these junior technicians will have to learn over time.

A service center+sales station here in Dar will bring more to our economy than the current model where we keep sending money to Japan, imagine hata JAAI inspection inafanyika japan wakati nikitu ambacho TBC wangeweza kukifanya(ingawa binafsi nashukuru kufanyika japan-maana huo urasimu wa TBC wengine ungetushinda)

BUT,a big but remains with the reality..,will they be able to come back?!Tanzanian market is floded by useless junk from CHINA.tushukuru mungu china ni RHD maana tungejaziwa hata ma RHD car yao..,tanzania is so lawless, hasa hasa kwenye business conduct, anayefanikiwa ni yule mwenye kujua kuhonga.sasa situation ya aina hii sio nzuri kwa law abiding investors.

Well said Mkuu!!

I too think it is the economy crisis and competition..but Autorec I recall, are the pioneers of the car business here (?)

Good luck and hope to see you back under the second phase.
