ATCL kufufuka kisasa zaidi, kwa nguvu zaidi -- na kutawala tena soko!

With the current set up of ATCL i am sure they will achive that..

Shame that one of the most prominent judge in this country Judge Mark Bomani is saying we should live the airline industry to private industry, poor him he is afraid that ATCL will steel their market share in domestic and international route. And once the Airline if fulll running i will urge all Tanzanians to support their national airline.

This company is not serious, ww Chizi don't be like ur name it sounds Chizi, UNATAKA KUNUNUA ATRs? Ww Chizi kweli, find me for further advice, ATRs unazijua au unaongea tu kwa kuziona? Not reliable Turboprops at all na hizi sio medium jets as written above..ATCL will bankrupt quickly again MKINUNUA ATRs, don't tell me Precision operates those airplanes & making benefits, i am rated on ATRs, kila siku ni snags.
My Advice:
Sahau kununua ATRs,
1) buy medium jets as those of FLY 540, say 4 used ones, are fuel efficient, comfortable, faster, reliable on maintenance, less noise,
2) buy Boeing say 737-300 for the planned capital of $500milion, is more than enough to buy 4 used ones still
very operational, well maintained at ur hangar

So unaanza na Boeing 737-300 zipo 4 used ambazo zipo nyingi na nzuri sana, na CRJ 4 used ones as Regional jets, total 8 airplanes mtanunua kwa capital hii na inatosha kabisa na kubaki, yaani achana na turboprobs, hizo mbili
mlizo nazo tosha, acheni kuwazia NEW, NEW, NEW airplnes, Chizi ww ucwe chizi b careful....

Tanzania is seeking $500 million to purchase new medium and long range aircraft to stabilise the operations of the ailing national carrier and increase its flights to domestic and international destinations.

The government said the financing of Air Tanzania Company Ltd (ATCL) was being discussed with the aim of purchasing eight new aircraft.

Export Development Canada (EDC) has already agreed to support ATCL, and discussions with experts from Canada to acquire the aircraft will be held starting November 21.

The company intends to buy both second hand and brand new aircraft arguing that buying new planes only would too expensive.

The managing director and chief executive officer of ATCL, Paulo Chizi, said the airline needed nine planes to operate consistently.

The company had not made any orders for the new planes because the firm had just resumed operations and “it was too early to enter into partnership with other companies.”

At the moment, the company has only two aircraft, with one in operation and the other undergoing maintenance.

The delegation from Canada will comprise engineers and aviation experts.

The experts will assess the airline’s five-year strategic plan with a view to helping the airline acquire financing.

Once the EDC delegation is satisfied with the plan, it will help acquire a long-term loan to purchase planes from Canada’s aircraft and trains manufacturer, Bombardier.

“This will enable ATCL to buy the planes by February 2012 from Bombardier,” said Mr Chizi.

Experts say that ATCL should prefer to buy ATR planes rather than Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) due to the fact that ATR planes are fuel efficient.

Canadian High Commissioner to Tanzania Robert Orr said it was a big step for ATCL to be back in business and “honourable for the management to restart the operations of the company that was half dead for four years.”

“For the efforts ATCL has shown, I promise to connect it with other companies dealing in air transportation so it can accomplish its strategic plan,” said Mr Orr.

The firm expects to fly domestic routes to various regions, including Kigoma, Tabora and Mbeya.

After operating for one month, it would expand its routes to Arusha, Zanzibar, Bukoba, Dodoma and Shinyanga.

Rivals to ATCL such as Precision Air, Fly 540, Kenya Airways, and Coastal Aviation have benefited from the vacuum created by the national carrier in Tanzania’s fast growing aviation market. Mr Chizi told The EastAfrican that in the next five years, the firm expects to have at least 11 aircraft operating.

“The company is now planning to deploy small capacity jet aircraft that will be operating locally, while medium-sized jets are expected to operate in the region before acquiring wide body aircraft for international operations,” said ATCL.

ATCL has signed a code share with Jetlink Express, a Kenyan firm that flies on the Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Mwanza routes.

Bongo bana, samahani wakuu hivi huyo Chizi amewahi kuendesha kampuni ipi kubwa inayomake profit?

One kipindi cha Jambo Tanzania TBC cha asubuhi alikuwa anahojiwa na Marin Hassan Marin, the guy is Chizi, aliulizwa mbona ni matumaini tuu kila siku na serikali inaweka fedha nyingii bado kampuni inakufa na makampuni binafsi like Precision zinakua? Alijibu eti ktk biashara kuna kuna HASARA NA FAIDA, wenyewe walipata HASARA, akatoa mfano eti mbona hata makampuni makubwa ya ndege eg ya AItalia ilianguka, yaani he decleared failure, hovyo kweli huyu, he is not aviation professional, anasahau mashirika mengi ya ndege duniani yana sumamiwa na Aviation professional & experts, most are aircraft engineers, experienced pilots, retired captains to run the business, vinginevyo kampuni itaanguka kila siku, jamani airplanes hada kubwa kidogo are very very expensive, sasa ukimess up hata in one Jet engine, umeingia loss kubwa....

Mgodi wa Barrick ulijengwa kwa $ 500 million. kama wana pesa kiasi hiki kwa nini hawakuwekeza huko kwenye faida???

With all due respect I think Tanzania as a nation would generate more value for money by investing the $500 million in reviving the central railway line and buying locomotives and wagons to revive the railway transport in the country. The revival of the railway transport will among other things:-
  • Free the Dar es salaam port from congestion due to inefficiencies in road transport;
  • Free dar es salaam roads from traffic jams caused by presence of worn out trucks;
  • Save our expensively built highways from damages caused by overloaded trucks which are a source of dirty money for weighbridge staff;
  • Reduce road accidents caused by reckless truck drivers;
  • Open up economic activities in regions, districts and villages through which the railway line passes;
  • Capture the freight transport business to neighbouring countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Eastern DRC;
  • Revive the Kigoma Port and open up business between Kigoma and eastern DRC;
  • Address the marketing nightmares faced by farmers by facilitating transportation of agricultural produce from areas with surplus production such as Kigoma and Rukwa to areas facing scarcity such as Singida, Shinyanga, and Mwanza;
These are just a few of the benefits of reviving the railway transport in Tanzania. Unfortunately, I don't see much benefits arising from reviving ATC. The best we can expect from ATCL deals is yet another Airbus-like scandal.

Mbona bei za Boieng ziko powa sana kwa nini hawa jamaa wanapenda kwenda kununua mamitumba kila siku? Wanashindwa nini kwenda Boieng na ku struck deal la maana na kuachana na hao ma middle men aka 10%? Bomani is right and with all due respect you are wrong. we cannot keep injecting miliions of tax payers fund into a failed company. if they want to do it they have to secure other means of getting capital such as getting a loan from the financila institution or sell stock in DSE in order to raise some cash. ATCL has more debt than what the company worth in other words the company is worthless for that reason one with a shred of brain left over in his head would not spend a single cent on this long time failed company. if they really like it, The fund must come from private sources and never ever to put a burden on tax payers.
