In order for the stakeholders to corporate it is good to create awareness on this project to the general public about the coming investments to Arusha municipality. The Arusha Municipal Director wish to inform the general public that the coming investments will benefit a larger portion of the municipality since nine wards are going to enjoy bituminised road surface. The proposed projects will be;
[IMG][IMG] NJIRO - MBAUDA
This road will connect the Njiro road with Oljoro road near the bridge to Mbuga ya Chumvi. It starts immediately after Nane nane exhibition grounds following the road via Lemara police post and Double B bar. Thence on the western direction to the Unga Ltd, high tension line at Lemara road crossing. The road follows the high tension line to a point 200 metres, south of Sinon secondary school. From this point the road turns west past Ngusero area to join the Oljoro road. This is a 6.5 kilometers road and it will involve construction of bridges across Themi and Ngarenaro rivers and of course several culverts.
[IMG] UNGA LTD. - MURRIET ROAD
This road starts at the point where the factory road crosses the last railway siding. From there the road goes south following the current road to Sinon secondary school area –thence westerly direction for about 150 metres along Migungani road. Then it turns south. It follows the existing gravel road to the current Burka river bridge-to Muriet damp site. The road will go about 100 metres past the dump site. The Burka river bridge will be expanded to accommodate the traffic increase in the future. This road after completion will be 6.0 kilometres. It was noted that the bad condition of this road force trucks into making few trips per day. This situation is the one that leaves much of the solid waste uncollected/taken to the dump site. (Only 60% of the 410 tons generated per day are collected and taken to dump site. with the construction of this road more solid waste will be collected and taken to Murriet dump site and this will facilitate having a clear city.
[IMG] BOMIKO ROAD
It is a bypass road that connects Dodoma road & the Moshi Namanga road much of the through traffic from Babati going to Nairobi or Moshi-they can diverge at Majengo to Sakina and not to go to the city centre. This will reduce traffic at the central area and thus reduces congestion. This road will be 1.9 kms
[IMG] COL. NDOMBA ROAD
It starts near the railway crossing with Njiro road-through the former Maboxini settlement to breweries road. This is another bypass. The vehicles that are going to Esso/Unga ltd. Industrial area or Daraja Mbili instead of going to the city centre they will use this road. It will also reduce traffic congestion between RTD area and Kijenge round about and clock tower. It is named after the former Regional Commissioner for Arusha Col. Ndomba who convinced Arusha business community to contribute towards opening this important by pass. This by pass is 1.4 km.
There will be traffic control signals at friend corner junction. This is a point where most of the city traffic converge. the traffic control signals will solve the traffic accidents at this area and along Sokoine road as a whole.
[IMG] BONDENI DRAIN
During heavy rains, the Sokoine road becomes full with water which is collected by Bondeni street from various street drains to Sokoine. The drain will start near the main market at the Somali-Kituoni road crossing. This drain will follow the Bondeni road across Sokoine road to Majani ya Chai offices direction, thence southerly direction along the existing natural drain across National-Miling-Fire road to the railway line. This drain will be 500 mts
The soils at Murriet dumpsite are black cotton soil (ngusero) which are notorious especially when wet. During rains trucks can not get into the dump site instead they offload outside the dumpsite - and leaves the area littered with garbage. The project will provide infrastructure that will facilitate easy movement inside the dumpsite before and after offloading
About 20 streets within the CBD area are going to be involved in this project. The streets are Azimio, Bondeni, Stadium, Image, Romboshine, Lindi, Livingstone, Masai and Nyamwezi. Other are Martine, Mosque, Mtei, Mtendeni, Pangani, TCA, Themi, Wachaga, Wapare, Wasangu & Wasukuma. they all measure 6.40 kms. with the construction of the said road network the central area will attract more people to invest in various business ventures as more high rise buildings are coming up-which is a result of law enforcement by municipal council on implementing the central area redevelopment plan.
The execution of these projects will be done in two phases
PHASE ONE: Will involve the central business district roads, the traffic control signals, drain and procurement of vehicles and machines as well as facilitating easy use the Murriet dumpsite.
PHASE TWO: This will involve construction of the two roads-the Njiro-Mbauda road, and the Unga Ltd Muriet dump site road. These roads are planned for phase two to allow for securing of funds for compensation. The compensation is planned for 18 months. This 2008-2009 will compensate those who are affected along Njiro-Mbauda road, and 2009-2010 will clear compensation for those to be affected in Unga Ltd –dumpsite road.
Once these projects are done, any funds remaining, will be invested for the construction of Njiro road extension from TEMDO to KANOSA Sisters, about 4kms, Engira road 1.2 kms and St. James road 0.25kms.
The investment in Arusha will cost up to 21 billion shillings .
I am taking this opportunity to request all stakeholders of Arusha municipality to cooperate with who ever will be involved in this project to enable it done smoothly as scheduled, for the betterment of our municipality.

Good idea..tatizo ubora wa kazi.

Nendeni Dar muone Mji wanavyo ukarabati as if ndio makao makuu ta Tanzania Check Dodoma Barabara zake kukarabatiwa tu bado kila kukicha wako dodoma kweli hawa viongozi kwao ni Dar tuuuuuuuuuu?

Au nchi irudi kimajimbo mwone Dar Itakavyo pukutika with 2 good yrs????

UTOPOIAN TYPE. Nilisikia kuna mpango wa kujenga convention centre at a cost of US D 250 Million.
