More than three men alleged to be thugs, have been nabbed by the Police today at Ubungo Plaza Complex in Dar es Salaam for purporting to have gold weighing at 600 gms. The minerals were sold at Shs 34 millions.~US$ 26,000.
One resident who sought anonymity said that he, in the morning of the material event was accosted by the culprits with an intention of conning him. Counteracting their tricks, he cheated them he wanted to withdraw money for the purpose from the nearby Bank but instead he went to the Police to report the matter.
The perpetrators who were driving a salon car and wearing expensive clothing denied an allegations, instead they claimed to have been hired by other people who had some businesses at Ubungo Plaza.
The Police at the scene of event warned the people operating different business in the city to be wary of people selling valuable minerals.
Commenting on the event, one resident who also appealed for anonymity, he said,"Many buildings in the city that accomodate different businesses have become a heaven of unscrupulous people who at any time can part with wodges of banknotes from the gullible citizens."
The alleged conmen have been remanded indefinetly pending further investigations.
"Wealthy is comming through hard work, there is no shortcut."
