As you read God's Word you will find many occurrences where there are groups of 3 or
sequences of 3.​

Three is the number of the Godhead

, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit,​

Mat 28:19, 2Cor 13:14​

. Three persons in one God. (See details in No 96.)​

There are 3 main sections to the Tabernacle that Moses built in the wilderness at

Mt Sinai: the outer court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies; and there are three
entrances: the gate, the door and the veil, Ex 25-40. (See details in No 39.)
The journeys of Israel from Egypt to Canaan went through three stages: coming out of
Egypt, passing through the wilderness, and entering the promised land, Deut 6:23,
Deut 8:2,3, Ex 13:18.
The Lord established ​

three annual feasts for Israel: Passover, Pentecost, and​

Tabernacles, Lev 23:1-44, which occurred in the lst, 3rd and 7th months. (See No 40)

In creation, God set the sun, moon and stars to give light, and to be for signs and
seasons, Gen 1:14-18, Rev 12:1.
In ​

Lk 11:5-8, Jesus spoke about the need of 3 loaves in the midnight hour, which could​

refer to the purpose and will of the Father, the Word of the Son and the power and ability

of the Holy Spirit.
There are 3 that bear witness in the earth: the Spirit, the water and the blood, 1Jn 5:8.
The Spirit is the Holy Spirit. The water is a reference to the Word of God, ​

Eph 5:26. The​

blood refers to the redeeming blood of Jesus, Eph 1:7.

There are ​

3 stages in the development of the seed of God's Word in our lives: the blade,​

the head and then the full grain in the head, Mk 4:26-29.

There are ​

3 levels of development in the Christian life: little children, young men and​

fathers, 1Jn 2:12-14.

In the Christian life there are ​

3 anointings of the Holy Spirit:​

the personal anointing, 1Sam 16:13, the anointing of limited authority among God's

people, 2Sam 2:4, and the full anointing as a leader in the church, 2Sam 5:3.
There are ​

3 degrees of fruitfulness of the Word of God in our lives: thirtyfold, sixtyfold​

and a hundredfold, Mk 4:20.

The Christian faces ​

3 main enemies which oppose his progress in the service of God: the​

flesh, the devil, and the world, Eph 2:2,3.

There is a "​

3 day period" between death and resurrection. As it was literally with Jesus,​

Mat 16:21​

, in the natural and physical, Mat 12:40, so it is a principle in our ongoing​

Christian life. We go through various death to self experiences so that we might rise up in

Christ to newness of life in the Spirit. At times for us this "3 day period" may be quite a
struggle to go through and let God, bring us into new life, Hos 6:2.
Josh 1:11 is a further reference, where crossing Jordan is like a dying to self. Read
Gen 22:1-19​

. Abraham went through a 3 day, v4, experience of "death and resurrection"​

in his heart as God tried him.

The nature of man is 3 fold: spirit, soul and body, 1Thes 5:23,24.
God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Ex 3:6,15,16, Ex 4:5.
The curtains of the tabernacle had ​

3 colours woven into them: blue, purple and scarlet,​

Ex 26:1​

. Purple is a mixture of blue and scarlet. Blue signifies the Holy Spirit and the​

ministry of the prophet. Scarlet signifies the Blood of redemption and the ministry of the

priest. Purple signifies kingship and rule and the ministry of a king. The ministry of Jesus in
heaven is as Prophet, Priest and King. Zech 6:13, Rev 2:1,8,12, 1Jn 2:1,2, Heb 8:1, 1:3,Mat
28:18.
The ark of Noah, that provided for the salvation of Noah, his family, and all the animals
and birds, had 3 decks or levels, Gen 6:14-16.
In the consecration of priests the blood of the ram of consecration was applied in ​

places: right ear, right thumb and right big toe, Ex 29:20.

The ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ is in ​

3 areas: Jesus = Saviour, Christ = Anointed,​

Lord = the One of all authority. He brings to us fulness of salvation. He is the Baptiser

with the Holy Spirit. He is the One who has full authority over us.
There are 3 major steps in the Christian life: we are justified, we are sanctified, we are
glorified, Rom 5:9, Rom 8:30, 1Cor 6:11, 1Thes 5:23.
In the material creation, there are ​

3 states of matter: solid, (earth and rock), liquid, (water​

in the sea, lakes and rivers), gas, (in the atmosphere around us).

4. Number 3 is the number of the Godhead.
As God is the Creator, Sustainer and Inheritor of all things, the number 3 is stamped on​

all of creation and in particular upon all who believe and serve Him.​
