Jamani serikali yetu mbona haithamini watu wake?

Watu watakwenda kunywa pombe tu. Ndio maana TBL ndiyo inayoongoza kwa kulipa kodi nchini! We have a long way away to go as a society!

Huu utamaduni inabidi tuachane nao.

Sawa, we have to sympathise na wafiwa, lakini haimaanishi kwamba shughuli zote za uzalishaji mali zisimame!

@Masaki,
Huwezi kuendelea na shughuli as if nothing happened wakati hauna hata uhakika idadi ya waliopoteza maisha.

Pengine wameshindwa kusitisha shughuli yote, lakini wangeweza kabisa ku-torn down/kupunguza shamrashamra.

Kwa ujumla huu mkasa unatukumbusha kuwa kama taifa kuna hayajakaa sawa hasa pale tunapopatwa na msiba mkubwa kama huu. not sensitive in my view.

Hivi Kikwete alipoenda kwenye mechi ya mpira wakati taifa liko kwenye msiba wa mzee Kawawa watu walisema nini? Au watu washasahau walihalalisha vipi?

Hivi Kikwete alipoenda kwenye mechi ya mpira wakati taifa liko kwenye msiba wa mzee Kawawa watu walisema nini? Au watu washasahau walihalalisha vipi?

That was before CHADEMA syllabus. Hata safari ya Canada imefutwa!

In less than a year tangu uchaguzi mkuu mwaka jana, kuna kila dalili kwamba Tanzania has changed beyond anyone's imagination.

& World News - Scores die as ferry capsizes off Tanzania.

It's interesting that in these third and fourth world countries, nobody complains about the decrepit condition of the ferry ships and the fact that they routinely operate with grossly overloaded passenger cargos until one of them sinks and kills several hundred of the natives. Curious.

Horrible. These people live with conditions on a daily basis that WE can't imagine. This is a terrible tragedy. For all of you who have anything else to say, consider how lucky you are to be living in a country where daily survival is not a constant unremitting struggle. The Tanzanians are tough, beautiful people who will recover. God preserve them and comfort them in this moment of crisis...

Shouldn't there be a comma after 500? When I first read this headline, I was wondering why a Ferry in Tanzania was carrying 500 sinks? Maybe they had too many sinks, and should have some showers and toilets too?

"that is 500 less of them" This quote must be from a white supremacist. Fortunately God does not think that way. What a debased human being!

They use English/American sounding names, like Gina, or Tom, Bob, Frank etc. They also like to lecture us about how awful we are (after doing the awful comments themselves). Hint, hint.

People in third world countries will do what they need to get around. Land travel on Island Nations is not possible and ferries become their buses. Where it should be a matter for the government to regulate the commerce and transportation, bribery of politicians and payoffs to local administrators becomes rampant in such poor areas.
Here in the United States our infrastructure is crumbling under normal conditions, this has been exacerbated by natural disasters of late. Still now our government is for some reason unable to provide the services needed to keep them in a good state of repair. Why is this? Is our system of government any better? the results of the Recent floods in the East and Fires and/or droughts in the Southwest are only the first of many things to come if this situation is not changed.

The news media ran out of negative things to say again otherwise this might not have even made the news. Why wasn't MSNBC out there helping to fix this issue the first time it happened in 2009. Why weren't they out there earlier this year? Well we did have to cover Michelle and one of her shopping trips to S. Africa. I feel that the government there is responsible for not maintaining standards and I am sure it is because they have very little funding, but also understand that we are in debt so far we can't breath. Maybe a few of the other countries that we have helped in the past can help them. Maybe a few million of that money we just gave to S. Africa can find it's way there. I doubt it, but wouldn't that be nice? We need to stop trying to be the savior's of the world and straighten our act out before we can help others again. The news media has plenty of money have them throw some dollars at them. The first to speak up obviously want to help. Well MSNBC show me the money!

These ferry "accidents" in Africa and South Asia remind me of how dangerous it is to take a bus or microbus here in El Salvador. They are aged vehicles condemned to American and Canadian junkyards and salvaged by poor nations such as ours. They are not maintained nor inspected. Brakes are worn and faulty. Tires are tread bare. Rusted chassis allow exhaust to enter the vehicle. Functioning mufflers are rare. Watching the drivers' manipulation of the steering wheel indicates a floating front end. Windshields are cracked. Cap this all off with drivers being distracted talking to their girlfriends on their cell phones, by a couple of homeys standing in the door well, and the boom box reverberating throughout the dying special education microbus and you've got the reason for so many crashes, overturnings, and deaths. But these are the only means of transportation to work or to shop. We have no choice. But tourists who have money for vacations? I wouldn't get on an overcrowded ferry. I'd pay a private "taxi" to get me and my loved ones to the other side. What a waste
