Ministers of the African countries who make-up the Executive council of the Union have recently endorsed a deal which is at odds with the Constitutive Act Article 3b,d and i of the African Union .
The Constitutive Act Articles clearly states that member states (b) defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of its Member States;
(d) Promote and defend African common positions on issues of interest to the continent and its peoples; (i) establish the necessary conditions which enable the continent to play its rightful role in the global economy and in international negotiations;
So far only 45 per cent shareholding of the recently proposed Baharicom submarine cable, which will cover Africa, will go to African coffers.
What is more at odds are issues that are still fresh in the memories of East Africans people with ongoing Ministers performances and corruption allegation that is surely undermining the basic objectives of the establishment of the Union! Oh! Africa!
Is this another clearing house for Africa's Resources?
