Portuguese marketing agency Futebol Finance has published a list of the top 50 footballer's salaries this season and the results are genuinely eye-opening.
It's no real surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo is officially the highest paid footballer in the world , but something of a shock to realise there are 19 players pulling in a bigger salary than Wayne Rooney.
The financial muscle of Manchester City is laid bare by the presence of no less than six of their recent signings on the list (seven if you include Patrick Vieira, who was still at Inter Milan when the survey was put together).
Chelsea are the Premier League's biggest payers though, with seven players in the Top 50.
Manchester United are represented by four players, Liverpool two and Arsenal just the one (Andrey Arshavin, laughing - quite literally - all the way to the bank).
The full list is as follows.
