Zanzibar yagoma kulipa Sh40 bilioni Tanesco

    Waziri wa Ardhi, Maji, Makazi na Nishati wa Zanzibar , Ali Juma Shamuhuma

    SERIKALI ya Mapinduzi Zanzibar (SMZ) imekataa kulipa deni la umeme la Sh 40 bilioni kwa TANESCO baada ya kupandishiwa kiwango.Waziri wa Ardhi, Maji, Makazi na Nishati wa Zanzibar , Ali Juma Shamuhuma alisema baada ya kiwango kuongezeka, serikali ya Mapinduzi Zanzibar inatakiwa kulipa kwa asilimia 168 badala ya asilimia 21 kwa uniti.

    Shamhuna alikuwa akichangia katika majumuisho ya mjadala juu ya ripoti ya Kamati ya Mawasiliano na Ujenzi ya Baraza la Wawakilishi Zanzibar ambapo Shamuhuna alisema, "hatukubali kulipa deni la Sh 40 bilioni kwa kiwango cha asilimia 168 asilani."

    Tanesco ilipandisha viwango vya malipo kwa wateja wake tangu mwaka jana kwa asilimia 21, kwa upande wa Tanzania bara ambapo kwa Zanzibar shirika hilo la umeme limepandishwa kwa asilimia 168 na kusababisha malalamiko makubwakutoka kwa wateja.Shamhuna alisema kuendelea kwa Tanesco kudai deni hilo kunakwenda kinyume na agizo la Rais Jakaya Kikwete kwamba pande zote mbili za Muungano zilipe viwango sawa vya asilimia 21.

    Waziri huyo ambaye alikuwa akichangia na kupigiwa makofi na wajumbe wengine alisema ili kuepukana na utegemezi wa umeme kutoka Tanesco ambao unaigharimu SMZ fedha nyingi, serikali umeanza kuchukua hatua za kuzungumza na wawekezaji wazoefu ili kuzalisha umeme kutokana na jua na gesi utakaojitegemea.

    Shamhuna aliwaambia wajumbe wa baraza la wawakilishi kwamba mradi kama huu umefanikiwa Dubai na Malaysia unaweza kuzalisha kati ya Megawati 50 na 100 ambao unatosheleza mahitaji ya sasa ya Zanzibar ya Megawati 50.



    Hata hivyo, akizungumzia kuhusu madai ya baadhi ya Wajumbe wa baraza la Wawakilishi wanaotaka Zanzibar izalishe umeme kwa kutumia mawimbi ya bahari, Shamhuna alisema utafiti unaonyesha kuwa ni mradi mkubwa wenye gharama kubwa na pia haujafanikiwa katika nchi nyingi duniani.

    Nadhani kabla ya kuendelea kuwalaumu tungeangalia "uhalali na ukweli wa Zanzibar kutakiwa kulipa 168% wakati TBara ni 21%"
