Tragically, much foreign aid is siphoned off to enrich the leaders rather than to benefit the common citizen. In fact, the aid often props up corrupt leaders, enabling them to retain their power over the people.

Most of America's foreign aid and military aid to other countries is an effort to buy cooperation and friendship. In doing so, the United States has "hired lovers".

But "friends" who are purchased are not real friends. The "aid" is like a bribe. They know you don't have real love for them. They know you have the selfish motive of buying their favors.

Egypt has been one of the top recipients of American assistance, receiving about $1.5 billion in aid each year. But the violent demonstrations against the Mubarak regime show that no amount of aid can guarantee stability, prosperity or even a reliably pro-American foreign policy.

Will America's Billions in Military Aid to Egypt Backfire?

No thank you, it won't be Iota. America knows who is at the receiving end of the aids as long as their interest is met. America knew for sure that Mubarak's account keeps swelling every other day but kept mum because Mubarak was working for them.
The aids flow to Egypt will not stop because US has enormous interest in Pharaoh land.
1. Egypt is an influential country in Arab world with ellite people in the Region. Remember Al Azar is the Oldest University in the world.
2. The uncertainty in Egypt poses a threat to Israel another best friend and ally in the region
3. The emerging of Islam Brotherhood (which is perceived as Alqaeda old version) is a threat, as it could harbor the Alqaeda to be
4. The Suez Canal assures America the safe access to Arab world especially at the time of war. The Navy sails through Suez
5. Egypt is a member of WTO because of her control of major trade route.

So, everything will be done to contain the situation which at the time stands as volatile. Dollar will say it all.

Moment of truth is around the corner... USA foreign strategy is busted and very unfortunate... Assange may have come at USA worst timing of the era

Tanzania watch out!

The point of all that aid was to prevent a Muslim state from rising and to perpetuate the status quo by oppressing the Egyptian people and preventing them from expressing themselves. For a while, this sort of tactic allowed Israel to cast itself as the only democracy in the Middle East.

Just another Iran in the making!

IT IS A FACT.

Egypt is headed for the same fate. I would guess the hope is that Egypt (and Tunisia) have been secular enough, for long enough, that the populace wouldn't let a group such as Muslim Brotherhood with its potentially theocratic laws and views get a grip on them.
