    About Wilfred

Kilimanjaro mountain guide Wilfred Moshi will attempt to become the first Tanzanian to climb the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest this weekend. Wilfred, as a guide has been climbing Mount Kilimanjaro since 1999. Wilfred believes that the climb will "show Tanzanians that we can all strive to achieve our own goals by hard work and a passion for what we do. Being one of the few Africans and the first Tanzanian to climb Mount Everest would be a major achievement for our country since it would prove that with hard work we can conquer such a challenge. This would empower Tanzanians to know that they can also succeed!"

As well as undertaking the climb as a personal ambition, he is also undertaking the climb for the Twende Pamoja Trust. Wilfred is a Tanzanian, of the Chagga tribe based in Moshi He is married with two children. He began his guiding career in 1999 as a porter, and within few months underwent the KINAPA guide-training course and became a certified mountain guide. He began as an assistant guide, and because of his language and natural leadership skills, he became a head guide in 2002. He has subsequently established his own company Kili-Treks. He has climbed the mountain over 80 times.

Wilfred is a certified KINAPA (Kilimanjaro Tanzania National Park) guide and holds a NOLS certification as a 'Wilderness First-Responder' (WFR) and 'Heart Saver CPR'. He completed Advanced Secondary School in Moshi and trained to become a computer hardware and software technician. Wilfred serves as the Technology Adviser for the Twende Pamoja Trust on a voluntary basis.

WM you have done good thing to this country. We need heroes to promote tourism. Mtu mmoja kule Italy niliposema natoka Tanzania hakujua iko wapi, akakafikiri ni Tasmania. Mwishowe akabadili akasema "Hakuna Matata"?. Nchi hii bado haikulikani nje. Filbert Bay na Nyambui walijitahidi ikaishia hapo. Kanumba amezimika, sorry.
