There is a new trend in Kenya, illegal white immigrants in Kenya who come to the country for better job prospects. Europe has been hit by an economic crisis and high unemployment rates. Many Europeans, the lost generation, are now immigrating into countries like Kenya and South Africa looking for brighter prospects. They are called the1000-Euro generation, i.e. the generation of European graduates, particularly in Southern Europe, trying to find work in tough economic times and often settling for “low paying jobs” earning 1000 EUR per month. 1000 EUR might be a lot of money in Kenya but in Europe, with the high living standards, it’s peanuts. So many opt for Kenya where they typically earn over 1500EUR per month doing jobs such as journalism, non profit work, grant writing, ‘missionary work’ etc. To navigate Kenya’s tough laws on expatriates, they use various methods including the paying of bribes to immigration officials to secure work permits.
This is a very interesting and ironic twist to the question of international immigration. While many Kenyans and Africans are struggling to get to Europe for “brighter” prospects, many Europeans are trying to get to Kenya for even brighter prospects.......

Koba,

What is wrong with you guyz? Why you are so obssessed with Tanzania? It seems a sentence can't be complete without bashing Tanzania. Frankly speaking, it is so annoying and it shows how myopic you are.

Aisee Rufiji acha kupoteza muda wako na hawa jamaa. Kuna kitu kimepungua/-legea kwenye bongo zao.

Sasa kama tena ile scarce active force itakuja Afrika kutafuta kazi sijui itakuaje kule kwao in 100 years...

Kenya could be the first EAC country to reach Middle Income status by2020.
Right now in Nairobi a group of young people are meeting for a Startup Weedend Nairobi. These young aspiring entrepreneurs will put together companies that will produce new jobs and streams of income.

And so? Middle income status measured by which yardstick? Why are some Africans having such a low self esteem?

mzungu gani aje Kenya kutafuta kazi ? may be mnaongelea watu kutoka krigizia ,azebaijani etc..nchi ambazo zimechoka

1500 EUR per month is nothing. Indians make twice that or even more per month in East Africa. We need to teach these Europeans about how to make money in East Africa. There is plenty of money to go around.

We actually need that influx of europeans becasue they have skills they can export from their countries and implement here in East Africa. for me I am for the Idea 100%. It seems tides are turning backwards.

hahahahaaa!!!!

Hivi unajua skills export ni kitu gani?
Yani a bunch of unexperienced Muzunguz wakija kufanya 1,000 Euro jobs (kazi za kwenye NGO and the likes), ambazo hazihitaji utaalamu wowote wa maana, kwanza ni kazi zinazotakiwa kufanywa na vijana fresh from school, wewe unaita skills export?

Are you insane?

Na ukisema the tide is turning backwards..............yani kwamba enzi za kukimbilia Ulaya kwa ajili ya maisha mazuri, - kwenda kupika mandazi na kufagia....sasa wao wanakuja kuchukua 1,000 Euro jobs nyumbani kwako na unachekelea?

Hovyo kweli kweli!!

What about our own graduates who are unemployed kwa sasa? huoni kama kutakua na competiion zaidi kupate the scarce available jobs?

Msamehe bure. this is typical kenyan mindset- Kulamba miguu ya wahindi na wazungu

Corrupt Indians as usual. Bribing and getting a tender, we are talking legimate means, not the other of yours.

@RussianRoulette, The reason I am saying that ni kwa sababu we are and always be non-staters. Hata na uhuru tulio nao wakati huu, na viongozi wa asili yetu katika makampuni, we still have several disparities kama ukabila katika kusajili wafanyi kazi. And BTW I did not mean ya kwamba waje na wa displace waafrika, no, I meant waje waongezee their skills and impart what they know in employment cirlces or business. So, I know this may shock you, we even need Indians of great Skills probably that will add to the productivity of an economy.

Partly why our ecomomies have steadily grown ni kwasababu wengi tumeeza kuiga yale wanaofanya kule kwao, so, why not open our doors for them pia? let us not be so over-zealous about our identity and ambitions to the extend that it consumes us, kama vile tunaona watu hapa kwenye hii thread wanajaribu kujadili about europeans na wahindi. Such will only lead to frustrations and more kushutumiana kusiko na maana.

Do not be short sighted, the fact that wamekuja humu ni kwa sababu uchumi wao umenosedive- hivyo sioni ubaya. Hata wasipokuja hapa kwetu EA bado kuna wengi waafrika hawapati nafasi za kazi ukabila reason kubwa. Tena, ukizingatia umati unaotafuta kazi hiyo kwa winig is basically because wamesomea taaluma fulani lakini due to economic pressure, kazi hazimo. No dumb man who has no taaluma atajisumbua kuweka matumaini yake kutafuta kazi. Waafrika its a pity when we go there (ulaya) tunalia kuhusu human rights na racial abuse and discrimination to the top of our voices punde tu tume kosewa. But an African because tuko @ homesoil and work a cool 9-5 and aka salary, tunajiona tuko juu sana. Africa we have hearts like rocks ndiposa pengine everywhere we go tunalaliwa mara kunyanyaswa. Let us @least tuwe na open mind. While tunaweza kubali kuna mengi inahusiana nao ukizingatia historia yao na bara la Afrika, tujaribu tupige hatua from such mindsets.
