50 years after colonial era we are still using the same power generation sources, hydroelectric being the cheapest source of energy we expected tanesco to be very profitable and well maintained.
Tanesco instead has been turned a fishing island where every one in his own ability can fish, we have seen series of unfair contract tanesco engaged with third parties to satiates the needs of greedy leaders, directors and board mebers unlike the fishermen who atleast change waters they fish to allow for fish reproduction, those in the ministry of energy never thought of improving the tanesco to match the demand. Tanesco we are using was designed to support population of those years.
Interestingly tanesco is always loss making notwithstanding the fact that they collect billions of tshs monthly. Kenya Power and Lighting(kplc) is sustainable, developed and profitable to the extent of being listed and traded in stock market. Why not tanesco??
The other infamous part is no one is ever responsible for this malpractice, we hear our young minister is busy with flying chicks @midnite (am not saying he should nt have fun) at the time we expect him to strategise alternative solution or be a good citizen and declare his failure to perform his job discription...I was just questioning when we will develop the attitude of demand our right?? When we will stand and eliminates the syndicate of poor and incapable leaders who cant even strategise the basic such as power?? When will we use the mass right?? Were human particularly tanzanian created to experience the dofficulties in life at the expense of few wrong decison??? Aaghhh some people will still vote for them...too bad!
