I assume either we have a lot of FOSS and we need none or we have a lot of money and need no FOSS! Lol

One problem we have in IT is Ideas. Dats why u see each one of us end up wanting to have a a forum system like jf or a "facebook" version in swahili.

To individual rather than developing a FOSS i think a strategy has to be using already available FOSS to develop solution wich help solve al problem or help managament in particular task or area in our society.

To drop a clue a to my views a solution which i think can really be helpful and usable should be either web based or can be implimented in mobile or both
    eg
    • developing simple Ms excel / qucik office to manage small shop sales an expenditure - Nadhaani ka-system kanaweza utumiwa na wenye maduka kumanage na kukepee recordza baishara zao ndogo ndogo na za kati. Just do research wtu wengi wenye biashara wanatunzaje na urekodi umbukumbu a business zao. .......
    • Our project wich failed(directory) is also still relevant.
There are a few more ideas........ I will start even selling my project ideas after documentng them lol .

    Mtazamaji,
that is good observation. Do you mean cloning excel and make it simpler or system to manage shop simpler than bloated excel? I think the latter is more practical since there is Librecalc or Apache Caalc for excel rwplacement.

Anyone in need/voting for shop management software?

i have not yet done indepth analysis on this tom my observaton and an un-detailed undesrtanding
    • Most shop ownwer and small busess are still using manual/ paper to record their daily sales and transactions
    • Most shop onwers own Mobile phones of wich most have them can have excel like appplicatin wich can be used to record
    • Shop onwers can have computer at thier home so trasaction from shop can.......
Althougn there is a liberal calc or Apache calc tatizo ni je
    • Do shop owner know how they can use these system to organise a manage their sales in mobile easily, and efficiently
    • Why not develop a simple application wich will help shop owners manage their trasanction and sale electronically in mobile in MS excel or Ms office .
Yaani nikiona wafanya bishara wengi wadogo wanavyodili na mauzo yao naona kuna kitu kinataiwa kufanyika.

But as u said the latter is not only more practical but there is a room for it to get support from stakeholders and help community in one way or another
